He Calms The Storms
“Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!’”
(Matthew 8:23-27)
My husband Bill and I were flying during a terrible storm.
Lightning flashed across the sky. I looked out the window as the aircraft bounced and swayed in the swirling winds.
I gripped Bill’s hand.? I was terrified.
Then Bill remembered how Jesus calmed the winds and sea for His disciples’ boat during a violent storm.? Bill prayed aloud, “Lord, you are the God of all creation.? You control the laws of nature. You quieted the storm on the Sea of Galilee.? Quiet this storm!???
Immediately the rain and turbulence stopped!? I smiled in amazement at Bill and said,? “Now why didn’t we pray that earlier????
Dear friend, the same power that quieted the wind and sea is available to calm the storms of your life.? In any situation, make prayer your first response.
Remember… don’t panic when you can pray!
