“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
(Luke 11:13)
Prayer that we think goes unanswered sometimes causes people to wonder about God’s faithfulness.?
One of my heroes of the faith was Corrie ten Boom.? She lived in Holland during Hitler’s regime.? Corrie and several of her helpers were taken away to the infamous Ravensbruck prison… thrown into unspeakably filthy rooms.?
The women earnestly prayed they might be delivered from their infested surroundings.? Their emaciated bodies became the feeding grounds for millions of fleas.? Corrie wondered about this strange answer to prayer.
Only later the women discovered that, because of those fleas, Nazi soldiers bypassed their chambers, deciding not to violate them sexually.
Corrie often explained that God, in His sovereign grace, knows far better what we really need… and what’s best for us.
So, when you pray, remember God hears what you want, but will give you what you need!
