Hospitality

“Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling”
(1 Peter 4:9)

I? love to host a party! And I think hospitality is a gift.? In fact, my motto for hospitality is to bless, not impress.?

To impress means to focus on myself…worrying about what others will think of me or my home.? But to bless is to focus on the people who I’m hosting…assuring their needs are cared for in my home.?

In 1 Peter, the writer encourages us to offer hospitality without grumbling.? If you find yourself stressed out and barking at your husband before guests arrive, there’s a good chance you’re trying to impress!

So here’s a recipe for your next gathering: ask the Lord to give you a heart that wants to bless…and ask Him to take away your desire to impress.

Believe me, you’ll be impressed at how blessed you’ll feel!
