The Children’s Prayers

Written by stacy

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all???
(2 Corinthians 4:17)

“Dear God, please don’t let Grandma Diane need chemotherapy.???

“Dear God, please don’t let Grandma Diane go bald.???

“Does Grandpa Warren know you have no hair under that hat????

Well, we “mature ones??? are like them, right? Our prayers are like children’s – we want our bright side of life and we truly don’t see God’s light on these subjects many times.

In our medical treatments we are learning, growing and knowing in a way as never before. The verse above can scarcely be fathomed by our minds.

How very relieving and reassuring to my heart were the words of little Brooke who ran to me from the airline bus and said in my ear: “Grandma, you look all right!??? Do I really grasp the truth of His holy assurance? Do I need the positive human input so badly? Is this all bigger than I can see?

The Message says:

“…on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us…on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without His unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us??? (2 Corinthians 4:16-17).

~Yes, my Loving Father, I need to grow up. My prayers need to grow up. I am like a child in my desires and I usually don’t see the bigger picture. Help me to see Your greater perspective and to pray with confidence in Your total loving care.

Thank You for allowing me to be part of a special plan that doesn’t need the earthbound standards of strength, beauty and productivity. Let me hold Your Word before my eyes and heart to focus on the eternal glorious events ahead.

I love You, My Savior, Lord and King. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s Tip:? Put this verse on the bathroom mirror, near the kitchen sink or in your purse.
