God Loves Me!

“He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me, because he delights in me.”
(2 Samuel 22:20 (Life Application Study Bible)

There are so many negative voices telling us that we’re no good. That we’re second rate individuals. We may have picked it up from our parents who werequick to express displeasure and slow to show their approval. At school where we were the odd ball out. From a boss in whose eyes we could never measure up. From failed relationships that left us feeling rejected and wounded. Or from failing the test in our own eyes.

A friend of mine expressed how many of us feel. “God loves me because he has to. After all it says in the Bible, “For God so loved the whole world, so he pretty much has to tolerate me, but God doesn’t like me. How could he? I’m nothing special.”

Yet, in God’s eyes you are special.? Special by design: “For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (1) Special by choice: “You did not choose me but I chose you.” (2) Special because God has set his love upon you. “He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me, because he delights in me. (3)

Can you hear God singing? He’s singing your praises. Listen! “The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing as on a day of festival. (4)

God delights in you. His pleasure rests upon you. God made you and saved you because he’s fond of you. He likes having you around. He can live anywhere in the universe and he chose your heart…(5)

When the negative voices of your past nag you,? pick up the Bible and read verses that affirm God’s love for you. (Like the verses above.) Write them on cards. Say them often as you go about your day. Pick up clues that God loves you, such as: a beautiful flower, a magnificent sunset, a pleasant surprise…Before long, the negative voice will be silenced.

~Father, if I have strayed from your love, I want to come back. Strengthen me so that? I may be able to comprehend what is the breadth and length and height and depth of? the love of Christ for me. I want to really believe it and act like it.
