The Transforming Grace Of God

Written by Stacy Wiebe

Please open your Bible and read:
(Romans 12:1 – 2)

The greatest influence on a believer is God’s transforming grace. The Lord’s will is for each believer to be conformed to His Son’s likeness. Every circumstance and trial we face moves us closer to God’s goal of our Christlikeness. Paul explains it this way: “By the grace of God, I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:10). When someone is transformed from sinner to saint, his life should reflect four new attitudes:

True Humility. Pride does not hide in a grace – filled heart. Instead we should always be pointing others to Jesus Christ, recognizing that our positive traits and achievements are from God.

Obligation. Paul was so thankful for the undeserved grace of God that he gave the Lord his life in return. He spent his years telling others what Christ had done for him. We, too, have a message to share. A world of hurting people waits to hear about the love of God from one who has experienced His grace. Dependence. Believers never navigate the Christian life alone. The power that transforms us from sinners into saints is at work in our lives every day. We joyfully acknowledge that Christ in us accomplishes the tasks assigned by the Father.

Confidence. Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). We should likewise be able to express with certainty that we have done everything the Lord asks or requires of us in this life.

God has poured out His grace into our life. Tell Him how thankful you are – and tell others why.
