“His (God’s) glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth. His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden.”
(Habakkuk 3:3,4)
“I wake up at 4:30 in the morning and can’t go back to sleep,” a mother confided in me. “I keep thinking about my daughter and where her actions will take her.”
Can you relate? Do you have a son or daughter far from home? As you watch them make decisions that will undoubtedly lead to much pain, do you wonder what more you can do. How you can help.?
I’ve found a wonderful reprieve in praying with another mother. For many years now, Helen and I have prayed together for our children. Once a week we meet either in my living room (when the weather is bad) or on a garden bench in her beautifully landscaped backyard. We read Scripture, share burdens, and then pray earnestly for each child by name.
In the end we remind each other that our children are in God’s hands. A place where his power is hidden. A place of blessing, security and fulfilment. Can there be a safer place for our children?
~Father, into your hands I place…………(name the persons). Hold them tightly as you guide them across dangerous terrain. Shield them from harm. Let them feel your hands of blessing upon their lives. Amen.
