Please open your Bible and read:
(John 14:26)
One of the Holy Spirit?s roles is to illumine the truths of Scripture to us. In fact, He is called the Spirit of truth in John 16:13.
While it is our responsibility to be open to the leading and teaching of the Spirit – agreeing to heed His instruction and submit to His will – it is His responsibility to transform us into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit has at least four methods of teaching us: revelation, illumination, reminders, and guidance.
The Bible is His revelation. He helps us mine its deep truths through illumination. Sin in our lives will cloud our efforts to understand these deep truths, but a heart bent toward God in sincere devotion and interest will prompt the Spirit to richly reward us.
Next, the Holy Spirit reminds us of these truths, often “giving” us a Scripture when needed. How many times have you found yourself in a difficult situation only to suddenly recall a pertinent verse of Scripture? That is the Holy Spirit. Finally, He guides us into application of these truths. He helps us understand what God wishes us to learn and what the message means specifically for our lives.

All of this is part of the Holy Spirit?s unending discipleship ministry. As long as you live in submission and obedience to Him, God will work through His Spirit to mold you into the likeness of His Son, your Savior.
