Stumbling Block

Written by Leah Kullman

Will this movie be a stumbling block to new believers and seekers? What can we do as individuals to ensure that this doesn’t happen?

Good question Leah! and I do think that for some people, this movie and the book will be a stumbling block. There are many who have no Biblical knowledge, and base their faith experience or spiritual journey on feelings and experience. What we have to offer is the truth according to the Bible, and knowing what our faith is built on, the person of Jesus Christ, God’s son sent to earth to die for our sins. He was crucified by the Jews because of that claim to be God, and this wasn’t something that was ‘made up’ hundreds of years after the fact. This is a great time for all of us to know why we believe and be ready to lovingly share that with others.

I will have to agree with deebee wholeheartedly. For those who are established in their faith in Christ and the Bible, there will be no change in what we believe. But, for those who are not, or whose faith is weak, this could very well be a stumbling block. The scripture says that whoever hurts one of His little ones, (causes them to doubt)it would be better to have a millstone around his neck and thrown into the lake.

So it behooves us I guess to clarify for others what the Bible does and doesn’t say. And to be ready in season and out of season to speak of the hope that is in us! Get ready everyone! This is going to be fun! :-)

i think this book will probably become a stumbling block for seekers not beliver because if you really are a follower of christ you know what the truth is, there is so many misconseptions about christianity today, there is no need to add on to the list. this is a very poorly written novel. SORRY DAN! about myths that never really happened. wanna know the truth? the real truth! read the bible and ask God to reveal it to you
    GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

If we as Christian sit back and do nothing I personally think this book has potential be a stumbling block but I think God has already won the battle and he will give us the tools to reach the seeking with the truth. God uses everything for his glory

    I agree Leah!:-)

I can’t help but wonder though, there are many out there who do not believe in the Bible and to say that this book just does’t corespond to what we know to be true in the Bible won’t be a good enough response for them. So how can we talk to them about something if we tell them that we simply believe by faith and that’s just not good enough for them?

  • Leah says:

    Kyrstle,
For people who need head knowledge to be able to accept Jesus we give them historical evidence that corresponds with the bible. Go to http://jesusanddavinci.com/ or http://www.thelife.com/davinci/. Second thing we do is we pray for these people and be there for them when they need answers and let the Holy Spirit do the rest.

If you would like help praying for your friends Kyrstle we have a team of mentors who will join with you in praying for your friend. Just go here: http://www.thelife.com/interactive/ask.html and send in your prayer request.

Praying for you and your friends,
    Leah

Regarding the question; will it be a stumbling block for new believers… I say YES! that’s why it was written. That’s its PURPOSE. BUT we can not just sit down and discuss!

What can I do as an individual?

    1. Get fully acquainted about what you believe. in other words, take time to deeply know the Word of God through the 66 books of the scriptures.

    2. Take charge of opportunities to speak of your faith (and do it boldly). The scripture says that God will always give us what to say. (make sure you ask Him to help you communicate. It’s worked for me many times!)

    3. Let’s not argue (with them that believe otherwise) but rather gracefully communicate what we believe.

    4. Pray to the God of the scriptures. He will defend Himself. He can. He only needs to use each one of us.

    5. Let’s not waver as individuals. For if we stand our ground…James 4:7 This treachorous piece of writing will not ‘grab’ the elect.

All of you have made great statements. And I think you all realize that this book (and movie)is just another tool in Satan’s arsenal to try to deceive people. Satan KNOWS the truth, he just doesn’t want anyone else to know it. He has tried since the beginning of time to destroy God and God’s work. But fortunately, we know the end of the story. GOD WILL WIN!! Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth!
