Prayer for…Guidance

“The Lord will guide you always;

he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land

and will strengthen your frame…??? (Isaiah 58:11)

~ Father God,

Thank You that You have promised the Lord will guide me always, not just when I am up and on track, but always. Today I lean hard on that and ask You to continue to show me the way to walk. God, sometimes I feel like a sun-scorched land…yet You promise to meet my needs even there. Today I acknowledge I need You. I am parched and I look to You to give me physical stamina, spiritual insight and emotional strength. You even promise to strengthen my frame. Thank You, Father, that Your tender care encompasses all of me. Help me to draw on that today and to praise You for it! In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

For me life without the Lord is like walking through ‘sun-scorched land’. I am learning I need to come to Him if I want my needs meet.
Today my ‘sun-scorched land’ would be physical. I am looking after our grandson who is just over a year old. I am not as young as I was and I have an under active Thyriod which can make me very tired.
This devotional is very timely as I will need some extra strength to cope with his demands.Trusting the Lord to meet our needs and strengthen my frame.

I’ve been in this sun scorched land for about 2 years now.
The Lord has changed all the ways of communion that I have known for the past 11 years. I can’t hear him, and I get so insecure, the devotions don’t seem to fit me anymore, until today, thank you, it helps to see a promise from his Word. I read daily but this seemed to be just what I needed. We have gone through alot of job changes lateley and now live with my dad, We struggle to pay our tithes,
and still God is faithful. Thank you for all the other comments, they help as much as the devotional.

I so much appreciate this devotional. Sunday my pastor preached on the fact of we cant be baby christians forever and that we need to desire the meat of the christian life and Gods word. All week I have been convicted of this challenge and I immediately wanted to AGAIN go out and by a new devotional book and hit it hard and running. But then I remembered I usually do that and then I dont go through with it and then beat myself up because I spent the money blah blah blah. So God convicted me that I have access to the world of devotionals and I could go through as many as I needed to until I found the one that challenged me or encouraged me and filled the conviction the God had planted in my heart. This devotional was just what I needed. And for that I thank you. My scorched place right now is not only my walk with God but also the fact that I work in a christian organization (I work at a Christian Boys Home). Sometimes I get caught up in the fact that maybe that should be enough. Then I remember I need to be refilled to continually give out. And then also, we have been doing this for 10 yrs and wonder if it is still what God is wanting us to do. The waiting and wondering and praying and begging just doesnt work. I need to remember that God is there and will shelter and protect and guide me through all of this whether Im paying attention or not. But actually if I pay attention I could probably see and hear what God is trying to tell me a whole lot faster. Thank you again for allowing God to use you to bless me and remind me.

This devotional came at a great time for me. Last night I found myself awake in the wee hours angry because my husband has such a difficult time actually making decisions. He fears failure. I on the other hand just want to decide and deal with the successes or consequences.
Reading this this morning helped me better understand. And, I have made a decision to stop being bitter with God’s help) and pray that God will give me patience and my husband clear guidance and conviction in his choices. I guess waiting is sometimes the hardest decision of all. Thank you.

I received this devotional from a friend and I am grateful for it.

My sunscorched land is watching my husband deal with cancer. Today it is at the worst from the treatment. This is when your faith is shaken, yet I firmly beleive that Jesus is going to see him through this and give him some time. I think that sometimes we become dry and cannot pray, and then we should simply talk to God. I know he is listening, I wonder how he does it.

So I am renewed today that it will be ok, that we will get past this and thank God for his mercy.

When encountering decisions, I often wish I were back in high school where my parents would tell me what to do. Although I didn’t appreciate it then, I sure would appreciate it now. Reading this devotional reminded me again that I do have a Father who is willing and able to direct me in the hecticness of this life. Thank you Lord! Sometimes I feel like a 3 year old making grown up decisions, but with God I have more confidence that the decisions I am making are what is best for my family.

    Andrea,
Our Pastor taught last night from Ezekiel, chapter 37. Just like Ezekiel, God brings us to “dry places” to see what we will say and what we will do. Do we really have the patience and faith that He will do what He says He will do? I start trying to fix things when I get impatient, just like you! According to this bible lesson in Ezekiel,we need to start proclaiming God’s word over the situation we are in, and speak that God will guide our steps, and he will bring us through it (just like He told Ezekiel to do, and the dry bones came to life)! When we hear His word spoken out loud from our own mouths, it engages our faith and gives us strength. Keep on praying, go to His word to hear his voice, and be persistent until you hear from him! You will know its God when you feel peace about the decisions and paths you take. Waiting is hard, but God is never late, He is always right on time!

I just wanted to say that the past few days have been very challenging for my husband and I. He si still in college and we are trying to look for him a job with a lab in a haopsital or outside for experience as he finished up his degree. There are times I get inpatient and wonder if we are going the right direction. I prayed yesterday for God to direct us and guide us through this journey. When I came into work today, the devtional today was that God will guide us through our lives. It gave me reassurance that is God is walking beside us through this challenging time in our lives and that I need to lean on him more and not try to fix things myself.
