“O, God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You…??? (Psalm 63:1a)

~ Father in heaven,

Thank You that You are my God. Thank you that You have made a way for me to be in relationship with You. Thank you that through opening my life to You I received the forgiveness and life that Jesus provided for me by his death and resurrection.

Lord God, I confess that often I do not seek You. I run breathlessly seeking to accomplish so many things. I cry out for Your blessing on what I undertake. I beg for Your help when I lose my way. I want Your strength when mine is gone. And You so graciously provide for me in all these ways. Your invitation is wide open to come boldly to Your throne of grace to find mercy and help in my time of need.

Yet I know You have so much more for me…

* You have that cool drink that will satisfy my thirsty soul.

* You desire to lead me beside quiet waters and restore my dusty soul.

* You have joy to infuse into my soul as I come to You in quiet contemplation of all You are.

To You, O God, I lift up my soul.

* Restore to me the joy of knowing You.

* Renew in me the commitment to spend time letting Your word soak into my heart and mind.

* Refresh me with new understanding of Your goodness and mercy in my life.

* Refuel my soul with the filling and power of Your Holy Spirit.

Keep my heart thirsty for You, Lord and help me to seek you with my whole  heart. I love You Lord and I thank You for Your loving hand on my life.

In Jesus’ name I give You thanks and praise, amen.

  • God I thank You ! The only debt I have is to love as You love . When I feel dry You alone can make me refreshed . Nothing on earth can compare to Thee ! I ask You always to nudge me when I do my own way . Quicken my spirit to yield to Thee . Ah what abounding grace , mercy , love and wisdom He pours out to those who seek His face . The joy and excitement can never be extinguished by circumstances for He alone can satisfy . God help me every moment for my soul to thirst only after Thee . I know You are there always for each one of us . Forever grateful to You Jesus !!!

For Leta: Did you miss the beginning of the devotional? It begins with this scripture—
“O, God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You…??? (Psalm 63:1a)
When I first sought this website I was trying to replace my daily devotional with something more structured. I daily read a Psalm (#149 today, if you do thirty Psalms a month you will read them all in 5 months), I also read a Proverb (and the months that only have 30 days I read Proverb 31 on the 1st). I also read a chapter in the New Testament. Today is the 29th so I read Psalm 29, Proverb 29 and Romans 14… (I know it doesn’t match the day of the month!) Well, … you guessed it I have ADDED this devotional to my old way and the blessings are increased! You are right Leta as far as God’s word and it’s amazing how memorizing God’s word can carry us when times are tough. God Bless YOU… In Jesus name I pray… AMEN

Hi Everyone! When other people share their burdens and we pray with them it’s amazing how we are blessed by this. Sometimes when you all share your comments through the daily devotional you say exactly what I would say. This past week I’ve had different people e-mail me to share burdens and pray with them. I think when we focus on our relationships it makes us happier because we aren’t so self-absorbed. Lord Jesus Thank-you for this website and all the wonderful sharing through people’s comments. Thank-you for Gail and her gifted ability to write. You know our burdens and needs before we ask. I say a specific prayer for my niece as she faces medical tests. Lift her fears and heal her. Fill our lives with your wisdom and love. Help us share your love and strength with our loved ones. Thank-you for your peace that passes all understanding, in Jesus name I pray. Amen. Patsy

Why do you not have the written scripture each days devotional?

  • Debbie says:

    Hello to one and all!

Ten times each day practice the following affirmation: “I can do all things through Christ which strenghtened me.” (Philippians 4:13)

    Blessings,
    Debbie

  • Natacha says:

In my adolescent years, when I thought about God, I used to think that He was a tyrannical God, that looked down upon us from Heaven, and as soon as we did wrong, he would strike us. Therefore, I feared God, and not in the way He said to fear Him. Then, I grew older and started facing some “real” situations, experiences, and trials. And honestly, all throughout my college years, I didn’t fully understand what it was to have a REAL relationship with Christ. I knew that I loved Him, and that I didn’t want to break His heart. But what is a relationship? When you have a relationship with a partner or a friend, what do you do to cultivate it? You spend time with each other, you talk to each other, you confide in each other, you go through trials together, you make great memories together, you laugh, and cry together, and most of all, you can’t wait for the next day to see that person. Especially if you are in love. They are the first thought that comes to your mind when you wake up and the last thought before you go to sleep. So when we speak of having a “relationship” with Christ, then it has to be more than mere 5-minute devotions in the morning, grace for food during the day, and a quick prayer before we go to bed. If we are to have a relationship with Christ, then we should have conversations with Him, we should include Him in all our decisions, we should talk to him all throughout the day, we should respect Him, we should want to spend time with Him, ALL the time, through His word, He should be the One we think about as soon as we wake up, and the last one we think about before we lay to sleep. When times are hard, we should cry out to him, and hold nothing back. We should yearn for His presence daily. That is what a relationship means. ANd although I was raised Christian, it wasn’t until last year that I fully knew what having a relationship with Christ meant. Now, I yearn for His word (a book I once thought was boring). Now I find something new and refreshing everyday in His world. Even Bible texts and chapters that i read over and over again, everytime I read it, it is like the first time. I view those as my “dates” with Jesus. So, thank you for this devotion that reminds me how fortunate I am to have found my First Love. Have you fallen in love with Christ today?

  • Lori says:

Yes Lord Yes! I will seek you in every thing I do, say, think. You are the source of all good things and restore me each and every day. Everything I am is because of what you desire me to be. You placed me right here where you want me to be. Each day is a precious gift from you for me to serve you more fully. Thank you Lord that you even considered me to be your servant. Oh Holy God, I seek you and thirst for you. I thank you for these devotionals that minister to my heart daily. I pray for us as women who endure much in your name. May the Holy Spirit enable us to do what you have ordained for us to do in your name. I pray for those who are alone, suffering in pain, have tears in their eyes for their lost loved ones that you will fill their hearts with peace, love and joy in the midst of trials. You are what we need. You are our comfort, our hope and our strength. We praise and thank you for what Jesus has done that has allowed us to come to you with open arms and hearts. Amen
