Too Busy for God?
by Vonette Bright
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” (3 John 1:2).
Author Dannah Gresh says, “Too busy for God? Girl, you don’t have time NOT to be with Him!???
When God moved in Dannah’s heart to spend more time with Him, she was really busy! She worked as a marketing consultant, helped her husband run two radio stations, and had two very young children. She was depressed, overwhelmed, stressed, tired, and sick much of the time. The only time left in her day was at lunchtime or 2am.
It didn’t happen overnight, but slowly God began multiplying her time and healing her troubled soul. Today, she’s got control of her schedule. She’s still busy, but has her priorities straight.
Friend, if God takes precedence in your life, all else falls into place. Seek first His kingdom! You don’t have time NOT to be with God!

I want to encourage Pearl. I take my grandchildren to prayer daily for one hour and I take them to church with me. At first it was a little difficult, but I thank God for the calmness they have now and the enjoyment of being in the house of the Lord. What you are doing in the spiritual realm can be the very thing to draw their parents to the Lord. Now they pray for their parents and I see the results. God bless you for thinking of the grandchildren and wanting to take the time with them. Trust me Pearl, it will pay off. I pray strength and patience for you. Don’t allowed the enemy to cause you to stop the process. It is a trick to make them unruling and noisy so you can stop taking them. Your consistence will cause them to settle down. God will be with you. Ann
God is amazing! We are doing a series at church called “Spiritual Disciplines”. I must confess that I haven’t really been paying attention, and find this series not very enjoyable. Until today that is!
This week’s discipline is “Simplicity”. You got it…seeking God first. I was praying on this all day because I missed Sunday School and sermon because I was busy doing service for the church!! I made it to Bible study tonight and got the gist of the subject. I started reading in my workbook, only to realize we were learning about being too busy for God, and seeking Him first.
When I looked down I realized again that I had put on a shirt this morning that is one of my favourites. The subject on the front? Seeking God first, Matthew 6:33. It is a really beautiful design from seekyefirst.com. These very Godly ladies were selling their products at a conference I attend every year.
So here are my “Godincidences” for the day…Simplicity as our spiritual discipline, wearing my “Seeking God First” shirt, and then opening my daily devotional that I’ve been too busy to read for over a week…only to find the topper on my day is the same message.
Well, I get it God! Sometimes He needs to smack in the head with stuff before I pay attention! I am so grateful that God knows me well enough to know that!!
Amazing God, working in my daily life. It doesn’t get any better than that.
God firs !!! He is the constant friend , companion in almost anytime , anywhere , anything , anyplace and even when I am alone , at home , at work and when I do the most simplest chores . Communing with God is really a lifestyle and You can’t just inject into your schedule in such a way that you are just inserting Him . He is really with you and within You . A matter of making a stand for the priorities within your innermost being to be able to include and intertwine in such a way He is a constant x or y like in algebra within the flow of stream in your life . As you learn each day how to be sensitive to Him , I assure everybody your life here on earth is like heaven because the joy of His presence is real !!! May You oh God be gracious to all of us to be less and You more in everything that we do and say and even our time we surrender to thee that You may alone be glorified in the inner crevices of our hearts and of our lives !
Please pray with me about taking our grandchildren to church on Sundays. We have 5 of them, and their ages range from ages 13, 12, 9 (very soon), 6 and 4. Thank-you for this devotional today. God Bless you all, in Jesus precious name I pray AMEN.
This devotional spoke to my heart. Although I have loved the Lord most of my life, there has been very little time
between three jobs (one of them a church position) to just
sit and listen to God. Now that I am retired, the realization has come of the wonderful companionship I have missed before. Praise God that He is there for me even when I am too busy to listen and He waits for me to discover again His love for me.

I just found this website this morning when I searched on “women devotional”. The ones here from 10/10 to 10/15 are especially relevant to me in my life right now, and today’s topic of ‘busyness’ is what primarily keeps me from my walk with God. Thanks for the daily devotional. I have it bookmarked to read every day now.
