Seek God’s Truth

Written by Dorothy Brown

“You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires” (Ephesians 4:20 – 22 ).

Nina was a news anchor for a local television station.  Billboards had 10 feet photos of her face splashed across them.  She was a celebrity.  And Nina was a Christian.

But, she knew that some of the stories were slanted away from a Godly perspective.  And more than once, she ignored her faith in Jesus in order to be in front of the camera.

One story came across Nina’s desk and she simply could not ignore her faith anymore.  She prayed and took a stand for God, refusing to present the news item as written.  As a result, she was moved off the news anchor desk and into a reporter’s position.

Nina doesn’t regret standing up for her faith.  She doesn’t have the glamour of her former position, but she can sleep peacefully.

Friend, be bold in standing up for your faith!

All of our lives we make decisions . . . whether to get up in the morning or stay in bed, go to work or stay at home,
go to school or play . . . and each decision must be made with the Lord’s help or we get ourselves into trouble . . .
BIG TIME !!! As a control freak, my life is a constant battle with this, but the most wonderful peace comes when
I go to the Lord about my decisions and try to listen to his answer. Annie

God’s truth is imbedded in your heart when you choose it to be!!! No one can force it upon you not even God . You can have a conscience but it may not stand for the precepts of God . You may claim the promises but without discernment it can also be a bondage . Walking with God is working your faith with fear and trembling for Him to be within you through the application of His word . Grace be upon us all to have the the perseverance to say no to evil and yes to God in our thought life , in our ways , our speech , in our relationships and above all our own accountability with Him in our private moments . Between yourself & God , may it be infilled by His Spirit and to do all things for His glory . Be transformed into His likeness more & more each day . God help us all !!!

it is my faith that keeps me in line with His Spirit. It’s not by observing the law yet it is a way for the Lord to bring us to Himself. It is not my righteous but His. It is faith that pleases God. We cannot do it on our own just by observing the law but by our faith in understanding His word in our hearts. He favors those who favor Him. Believe in your heart instead of just your mind and I believe He favors that. The just shall live by faith. Galatians 3 explains this really well. Thank you for your imput ladies it really encouraged me. Bless you! (:

Sometimes when we take a stand for Christ, it costs us at the moment, as it did Nina in today’s devotional. But in the longrun, we are rewarded by God with a blessing that is eternal!!! Nina knew in her situation what was right and what was wrong, it was very clear to her. But there are those few times when we are not sure. When that happens, my mother always said to just ask what Jesus would do and the answer would be very clear. That may sound cliche’ but it works EVERY time.
When we ask what He would do, His truth becomes clear to us.

    God bless,

    Peg

Thank you all ladies for your input, it really encouraged me. I like it when we recognize the big picture of what God is doing. I can’ remember who said it, but when we ask God what He would do and listen for the answer, is sometimes hard, but like Jamie Lash once said but “if you really know God’s character you won’t be afraid of His will for your life.” Thats something I’m striving for and working on. I realize I’m not perfect, but I do know I need my Jesus every day.
    God Bless

This reminds me of a cute story.
At a craft fair I was working I had suggested to my sister that Promise Keepers would be a great event for her new husband. She asked “Will they talk about G-O-D??”. “Yes, and about J-E-S-U-S” I replied, in earshot of several people. Personally I thought the resulting stares and gapes to be funny.
