Indestructible Inheritance

Written by Dorothy Brown

by Suzanne Benner

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you??? (1 Peter 1:3,4 ).

Peppers that have turned to mush, carrots with moldy tips, cucumbers which have mysteriously liquefied – these are the things I discover in the crisper drawer of my refrigerator.

Unraveling sweaters, ragged bottomed jeans with holes in the seat, misshapen T-shirts of indeterminate color – these are the things I encounter in my closet.

Forgotten friendships, ruptured relationships, death’s separation – these are the things I am reminded of in my photo album.

It seems that everything around us rots, breaks, wears out, tarnishes or outright dies.

Before you give in to despair, remember that there is one thing that does not fail.

Our inheritance in Christ can never perish, never spoil, and never fade. It is eternal. It is permanent. It is indestructible.

We can rest secure in the promises of God. They will not fail.

~God, we are so grateful to You for the secure future we have in You. The things of this world will all fade away, but You and the inheritance You give us are eternal.

I began feeling overwhemled with resentment for my 22 yr old son who still lives with us, and I was letting my emotions get the best of me. I needed to be reminded of this scripture. I read my bible daily and do my best to abide by the scriptures, but sometimes when you live with a rebelious child it gets to you and it’s very difficult.
I have been praying for some answers to this constant problem with our 22 yr old son, he is very selfish, uncaring, greedy, and is dating a premiscious 21 yr old girl, and having sex, we want him out of the house but he says he won’t be leaving until 4/07. We need him to move out sooner but don’t want it to be a hurtful thing, we cannot bare his attitude, his morals, or his priorities any longer. He was raised in church but you wouldn’t know it if you knew him now… I’m disappointed in him and what he has become as a man and can just pray and send him on his way.
Thank you Christian Woman Today for this scripture, the Lord is always right on time, He is never late, He is always perfect! PRAISE THE LORD!

Do I struggle with believing the inheritance I have in Christ is indestructible? huh, not destructible. I have to admit there are times i do, as much as i beleive God help my un belief. How does knowing i have a secure future impact my present? “The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of Gos: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God. and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together”{Romans 8:16,17}. It help me to see how great he is and how complete his provision is from day to day. He has assumed all responsibility for me; made me compleste. Knowing this impact my present with assurance and peace. For he said “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” {John 15:7}. ~Dearest Father in Heaven, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” {Psalms 119:105}. I will bless the Lord at all times: your praise shall continually be in my mouth. Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benfits; from the rising of the sun to going down of the same the Name of the Lord is to be praised. My Lord and Savior, I love you and you are faithful that promised{Hebrews 10;23}. Praise you. God bless all, and may we all keep on keeping on for his Kindgom. Bettye

Father, Thank you for the reminder that my inheritance in your kingdom is indestructible. That knowledge keeps me free from worry about the future. No earthly inheritance can compare! I thank you for this website and its repeated reminders of your constant love for us. Let me be transformed into the woman who confidently invests what I have to do your will. All that I have, my home, my friends, my career, my family…you have given me. Along with those blessings, you have given me freedom to choose whether to use them for my will or yours. Let me always choose your will.
    In Jesus precious name,
    Amen

Lord-Thank you for being all that I need. For it is in You alone that I am sustained. My daily bread – I give thanks for you. My glue that binds- I love you Jesus
