‘The Nativity Story’ trailer banned

Written by Leah

The city initially disapproved the showing of promotional clips from “The Nativity Story” at the traditional German Christkindlmarket because it represented paid advertising that could offend non-Christians.

New Line Cinema, the makers of the film, had agreed to pay $12,000 to Christkindlmarket organizers to continuously play the movie trailer at the bazaar.

Responding to the city’s concerns, the organizers and movie studio canceled their deal.

This comment people suggest that it might “offend non-Christians” really bothers me because there are several movies out there that offend me as a Christian and yet you don’t see any of those movies or other items being held back. Why are we worried about offending non-Christians when Christians are being offended all the time? Freedom of religion means just that – free to have it, anywhere!

It is very enlightening to see that those who preach tolerance are so incredibly INTOLERANT and discriminatory against anything to do with Christianity. If we so offend non-Christians by celebrating Christ’s birth, why are other religions so well-tolerated and promoted..with Kwanza best wishes and Ramadan so publicly highlighted?! This antichrist spirit in our society is definitely rearing it’s ugly head more and more and OUR religious rights are not being respected in this country. Maybe somoeone should remind the officials who make these decisions that over 80% of Canada still considers itself to be Christian, and WE are offended by such choices of religious discrimination!

It is a shame to see that of all the religions in the world we are the most commercialised, bent on money, greed and arrogance… where is jesus in all of this? Can we call ourselves christians??? santa? killing trees to adorn our homes and buying gifts to appease each other!!! the greatest gift we could give ourselves is to read the manual of life …the bible and through this can we truly be happy and live the kind of life Jesus would have expected of us… with love, compassion and humility. We were given just one paradise and we have virtually destroyed it… Peace on Earth this is my wish now and into the new year…if it is at all possible ..it begins one person at a time.
