Many thanks Markham, these passages do encourage, but my point was simply that I don't think we have the guarantee of guidance that the author suggested.
Apologies about posting my intitial comment twice- simple human error!

I would be interested in anyone else's comments on

"He is willing to give us clear direction for any large or small decisions we are trying to make."

Certainly, this has not been my experience and I guess I am not alone in this. This has to be partly my responsibility- God desiring to guide me but my lack of discipline and immaturity resulting in me missing his guiding. IF God is willing to give this clear direction, why do we miss it and subsequently make so many errors? Is it possible that such clear direction isn't guranteed and at times we need to proceed acording to what we believe God may want us to do, even without clear guidance?

If this is the case, why do we not find this true in our lives? Does our lack of clear direction indicate our inability to discern what God is willing to reveal? Personally I find it rare to have a sense of God's clear direction, and my guess is that I am not alone in this. Surely at times we are not guaranteed this level of revelation?
