(Psalm 33:12 – 22 )
We have all experienced times of waiting in doctors’ offices, traffic jams, and checkout lines. While there, we have nothing to do but wait for our turn.
In God’s kingdom, waiting is defined as an “active stillness.” We should be active because we are continuing in our present situation, and still because we are focusing our attention on Him for guidance. Practicing a lifestyle of active stillness requires a purposeful and expectant attitude, a patient and determined frame of mind, and a prayerful and obedient heart.
There are rewards for waiting on the Lord. We receive the supernatural energy and strength we need for godly living. At times, when responsibilities overburden us, we might be tempted to get out of step with God. Even though we know He is calling us to keep a steady pace, we may lag behind. At other times, our schedules leave us little time to think. So we make quick decisions, pushing ahead of Him. In either case, we risk becoming weary and emotionally spent because we are operating in our own strength.
Patiently waiting on God brings us the physical energy and emotional reserves we need to keep going. Waiting on God also enables us to discover His will, which is always for our good (Romans 8:28). We also gain spiritual victory in the midst of our trials and disappointments.
Our all – knowing and all – powerful God is always on time. But we often leave too early or arrive too late. Pick a situation in which you are tempted to overrule God’s perfect timing. Then submit to Him, realizing the issue is a matter of trust.

I really agree with that devotional, sometimes I wait and I wait and still wait….why hasn’t God delivered what I have prayed for? does he wish not to fill my needs so quick? About a week ago I was on my computer and thinking of ways how to get a woman, “should I join a singles network on-line, I asked myself” the answer was no.
Although I could access many single sites, why didn’t I? I got to thinking and said no, I will not get suckered into joining a dating site, I already seen the arm and hand at a halt position….things started to turn around for me, do I really want to hunt down a woman that I don’t even know? “I said, no”.
Although I am sometimes lonely, I use that time to pray, I do not believe that God intends for me to be alone all my life, I merely believe that he wants me apart from interactions with women, I know he will deliver when he is positive that I will not drift away from him, but rather be more intuned to him.
And with the patience and guidance of my leader I will be obedient to his suggestions and take on whatever he has planned for me. Because I do believe everything is in God’s time and not mine, when he delivers I will know! because my heart will be filled with happiness that only I and my creator will feel.
I was thrilled to read Craig’s response to this devotional. How refreshing to receive the insighjts from a young man who would rather listen to God then fulfill a personal urge to find a relationship. There is some very fortunate young lady out there who will praise God in the future for Craig’s character. I tip my hat to you, Craig. You will be the winner in the end.
