Growing With a Friend

They lived thousands of miles apart and in different time zones yet they were in a Bible study together. One joined in during the wee hours of the morning while the other set aside the supper dishes to connect with her friend. Both sat at their individual computers with a handful of other women from various points on the globe… and they shared a Bible study together.

Doing a Bible study online is one of the neatest experiences you can have. I’ve marveled at how distances melt away and strangers become friends as we share in our spiritual growth together!

Typing prayers for one another in the chat room at the end of each study was a new experience for me. It felt a bit strange at first. Yet time after time I was amazed at how the presence of God surrounded me sitting at my computer and praying with these like-minded women who were scattered around the country or even the world. What an opportunity!

Mothers and daughters, sisters and sister-in-laws, family members and friends who are separated by distance can use this unique way to connect and continue their spiritual growth together.

Women who are not well enough to go out to a local study can enjoy this quality communication from the comfort of their home.

Some seasons of life are busier than others and time frames available don’t always match the times of local groups getting together. Growth doesn’t have to suffer as you choose a time online that matches your schedule.

Come and join the conversation. Come and share your heart and grow with others who share that same desire. A leader will guide the discussion and you will receive the questions ahead of time via email. It’s easy, it’s convenient, it’s fun and it’s rewarding!

Come… bring  your cup of tea and invite your friend to come too. Share in this remarkable opportunity that technology has given as God harnesses the internet for His purposes.

Invest an hour a week for a few short weeks and let God amaze you!

I enjoy studying the Word I have never join one online.
My comment on a critic, often you find no point of agreement. It seems they disagree or are negative about everything! Usually I try to engage them away from the negative point to discuss a more neutral position, often this works but if it doesn’t, avoid a confrontation with them. I believe the Bible says avoid such encounters.

Studying the word with other women is one of the lifes biggest blessings. I believe God brings women together to share, encourage and love one another. I have grown more in my spiritual walk with the Lord by what I have learned in small groups, with other women. (More so than from some pastors.) No matter what language we speak, or where we live, we are one in Christ. I have traveled a lot in my lifetime, and meeting other Christian women all over the world is a blessing. Even if I only heard them sing “Jesus loves me” in their language – it was beautiful. I can see where the computer would be a wonderful blessing for someone who could not get out to a Bible study. Thanks for the idea !

I HAVE NEVER DONE AN ONLINE STUDY BUT I AM GOING TO TRY IT, I LOVE TALKING TO WOMEN , I THINK IM GOING TO ENJOY THIS! :)

  • Gail Rodgers says:

Marcie, I agree with you that studying God’s word is one of life’s biggest blessings.
These new opportunities that God is providing to do that together are so exciting.

I’m thrilled to hear you are going to try it, Carmen. It is a stretching experience but I know you will be blessed.

Dannna, I understand your reluctance to join an online group. Many women are unsure of joing an online chat and one must be wise in choosing. However let me assure you that this is a safe way to engage with other women. If you decide to try it you will be pleasantly surprised and blessed. I’m so pleased you blog and share your thoughts with us here. The Bible study chat is really just an expansion of that.

It’s so good to connect with one another in this way. Blessings today!

    Warmly,
    Gail

I am still fairly new to this online group, but so far I love it. I would love to do the online study group…if I can. I tried to do one of the 15 min. chats and as soon as we got through prayer my 5 1/2 month old needed me. I felt so bad I had to get up and go with out explaining. By the time I got back everyone was gone :( When will it be, and what time?
