Playtime

Do you laugh often? Laughter and play are tonic to our spirits. Make time for fun in your day. Adulthood is mostly about getting things done. So one of the first things to die in adults is playfulness.

Be deliberate in choosing to bring fun into the relationships you treasure. Where a rut has developed, break out of tradition today and do something different. Shake your routine up with an enjoyable activity you think you don’t have time for.

Even God tells us to come to Him as children with simple faith and child-like trust. Often when we loose sight of that child-like faith in our lives, we also loose sight of other child-like qualities.

The virtues of childhood are trust, humility, simplicity, innocence and wonder, laughter and play.

Choose today to put some childlike qualities back into your life. Start with laughter. Deliberately plan some fun. It might be as simple as a walk with someone you have wanted to spend time with. The actual activity doesn’t matter as much as the effort to engage in something less serious than you usually do.

How could you play today? Come on now… it really is good for you. Play reduces stress and releases hormones in your body that help generate health.

Choose to play today for 15 minutes… intentionally…. And see what it does to your outlook on life.

It has been said, “sometimes we rest best when we play hardest.”
