“Jerusalem will be told: ‘Don’t be afraid. Dear Zion, don’t despair. Your God is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love and delight you with his songs’” (Zephaniah 3:17 The Message).
Cheri wondered, “Is this all there is?” At 29, she was married, had two boys, and was attending graduate school. But she still felt empty.
As a child, she lost her aunt, grandfather and father. All within two years. And her best friend died. Cheri wondered, even then, if God really cared about her.
Now the question haunted her. So she decided to look into the Bible. When she read John Chapter 1, it suddenly made sense. Cheri prayed to commit her life to Christ. She began a relationship with God that continues today.

There is a joy in prayer that relieves the tensions, overcomes the worst of problems, and gives me the peace of God and His presence with me . . . when I get so caught up in the problems of the moment and try to work out answers by myself instead of listening to God . . . I come back to the Lord with my problems and the joy returns. Praise God.

I have read so many great comments from women who have found the Lord through trials. And it was through trials and losses I found the Lord as my Savior many years ago. The Lord picked me up always and I consider Him my best friend. But I was shocked to find myself not prepared for my later years. And I read very little written by older women. Sometimes I think as you are an older Christian you are expected to have it all together. At 16 I lost my little brother and was devastated. I was with my mom who suffered and died a horrible death from cancer and then was with my dad a year later as he died from a long illness. Between both of these losses my sister’s 8 year old daughter was hit and killed by a car. I was with her in the hospital when she passed away. She called me her other mother. The Lord was faithful to keep me going In Him. Now in the last months the Lord has given me a mountain. I know God has purpose in all things and nothing can come to me except He allows for I am His child. My son died. The one I prayed for and always believed he was God’s gift to me. In a few weeks my sister’s house caught fire and she was dragged out and only lived a few days. My heart is broken. I will see them again but my son was the best dad and husband I ever saw. He suffered for a year and was on and off life support as he fought to live for his family. He carved the Thanksgiving turkey but could not eat a bite. I am back to reading my Bible and praying. I cannot do volunteer work as I fell and broke my foot and back. My husband is working part time and very healthy. I am 70. Do all 70 year old women have their Christian lives lined up and do they feel like they are contributing to the work of the Lord?

I Thank the Lord that he always allows us to come back to him when things in our lives are going all “so wrong”. However, I love it even more when I go back to him when things are going all “so right”.
Praying to God on a daily basis when things are good and when things are bad is truly a marvelous way to live. He wants us to pray to him through the bad times as well as the good times too.
Keep in mind that it is not out of the norm that many of us drift away from God during certain times of our lives YET one must acknowledge that we can redidicate our lives to HIM and walk in his peace again.

Hello to al who read this respnse. I love to pray to my Daddy. It is very important to me to talk to my Daddy(Abba Father). He means so much to me in my day to day life. with out my saviour I am nothing. I talk in my counscious about things that most of the time is private to Him. When it is time to ask and to praise His lovely Name, I do this in prayer. I am trying to pray scripture as well. Prayer is a time to sit with the Father and pray my petitions and requests to Him.
I too get caught up in my busy life. But, I have the ultimate supporter in God my Father, Redeemer and the Sustainer of my strength and faith.
If I go more than 24 hours without reading His word and praying to him I start feeling confused and tired.
I praise God for this hope and purpose He has given me.
So keep reading His work and praying to Him and be humble and thankful in everything.
Bee Dee I just had to reply to you. Our God is a great big God that means he has great big arms to lovingly wrap you in every time you turn to him. He knows all your deepest needs and esires and will honour them when the time is right. To have so much tragedy in your life is awfull and I do not know why God allows it but I do know you are here today to tell your story and richly bless someone elses life. God Bless you

Am joining my prayers along with Tracy and others for you, dear one. Am an older woman, too, will be 64 this Christmas season..But age has nothing to do with it..We are all “arriving” not “arrived”! We’ll be learning and growing all our days on this earth!.. HE told us in HIs Precious Word that we’d have challenges on this earth, but that HE wold bring us through every last one..and give us PEACE as we turn to HIM..and HE Will! Like Tracy wrote? It is unbelievable what you’ve gone through (and next time am tempted to complain over a challenge, am going to remember your challenges!)..but HE will use it to bless and encourage someone in your path.. You will be able to understand and encourage as few can!..and you are still with HIM!! That is beautiful right there! Your prayers for your family and others are so important..and that is something no physical problem in body can remove, too! Isaiah 57:1 will comfort you about the precious son and others called early..some things so hard to understand on this earth..and he calls some young and seemingly, to us, before their time. We truly do see through a glass darkly from this side..Some things, there are just no earthen answers for..But you keep talking to your Heavenly Father..being comforted from His Word..and know that you’ve blessed many of us by sharing on this Devotional..Also, loved what Tracy said about being enfolded in His beautiful, loving arms! God Bless you, dear BeeDee, and Romans 8:37-39..None of that will separate you from HIS Glorious Love!!
