Most of us have dreamed of remodeling our home… that perfect place to entertain.
Well Becky found out it was much easier to dream than to do! She purchased a rundown farmhouse with the idea of renovating it into her dream home. But she learned some valuable lessons:
* First, count on spending a small fortune.
* Then, make sure you figure out how to heat the living room… before inviting your Bible study group over.
* And… hire a professional to fix the plumbing.
* But the most important lesson is that sometimes renovation is an inside job… your home and your life.
The Bible says, “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2). Friend, begin your personal renovation project by giving your heart to Jesus. He will remodel and renew you from the inside out!

This is so true. I’ve come to find that many of the arguments between my husband and I are financially based. The stress of not making ends meet. But when I asked God to change my thinking and to remind me that He is in charge and will provide – the stress level went down and the relationship between my husband and I began to grow. Thank you for reminding us that only God can change what’s inside.
WOW! This hits home today! My husband and I are under huge financial stress right now, and I am struggling with “what ifs”, negative thoughts, and horrible anxiety. I worry constantly about what is going to happen to us, especially because I stay home with our 2 small children, so we rely on his income. I know I need to change my thinking, and turn my thoughts to peaceful, and hopeful ones. I will carry Romans 12:2 with me, knowing I must change my thinking and turn to God to get through this rough time!
Good Morning Dear Ladies,
Michelle and Dorothy, we’ve been going through a rough time on the “outward” here, too..( for a very long time)..Yet, Romans 12:2 is so true..and HIS Word is really alive..As we transform on the inward and confess the Good Word that keeps us afloat? Am praying one day to be able to do repairs to the outside of our home, too,(it will take miracles on reduced, retirement income) and Know that “God IS Able”..That thought keeps me afloat! This very morning? Am up in HIs Presence and asking him to “fine tune” my attitude today and help my spirit eyes open wider to His daily miracles and not miss a moment of the beauty that “is” all around us! Philippians 4:8 helps every day.. Also, quoting Romans 4:17 and calling these things done before we “see” them with these earthbound eyes! Amen and praying good day for us ALL!
Good morning,
I am new to this board and so enjoy the devotions…each morning I look forward to it. This morning’s devotion hit it on the dot. I, too, am in the same situation as the first two women above. I must remind myself that God is in control and that I have to change my thinking. Many times it’s the negative attitudes that bombard my thoughts and that’s not the best!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi ladies, I too would like to do things to my house. There are some things that are important that need to be done and there are some things that I would just like to do. But right now that doesn’t deem possible. And when I am at the store and I see something that I would like to have I always stand back and say do I really need this and almost always the answer is no so I don’t get it. Then or minister preached on God wanting us to have the desires of our hearts and the theme was help us Lord to transform our thinking our believing and our speaking. So now I say Lord I am waiting for a blessing to be able to get and do the desires of my heart. Thank you Jesus that you care for us and will meet our needs and wants. I am trying every day to trust the Lord and leave everything in his hands. And it says in the bible seek the kingdom of God first and he will give us the desires of our hearts. I want always to seek the kingdom of God first and I know then these things will be given to me. God bless you ladies. And have a nice weekend.
God Bless your Wonderful Attitude, dear Nancy! Seeking Him should be the first and foremost on all our “to do lists”… HE is what we need the most!..and you are right! As we seek Him? He will add on the things that are needed! For myself, I enjoy giving more than receiving..And our house repairs are serious ones! But not too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:17)…Saying that strong verse daily and believing and Psalm 46:10 waiting on HIm..Doing all we “physically can” and “believing for the rest”..Amen!
Have blessed and safe weekend, dear ladies
God always know what we need..I often tell my children to speak positive words never negative no matter how bleak things my seem, and today I broke down in tears, as I read a comment Fran D. had left for me last night (a good one) and my seven year old daughter came in the room and said “speak life mom, and don’t be sad God LIKES SMILES!” I can’t tell you how many times I have told my kids to speak life and here my seven year old daughter proves to me they have been listening all along but to add God likes smiles WOW!! So today ladies speak life into your struggles–no matter what they are start thanking God today because he Will answer and SMILE while you thank him because like Cassie Marie said he likes smiles!!God bless you girls!!
Thank you, Maia, for this beautiful sharing! And, you know what?! Cassie Marie is already doing “Romans 4:17″ at seven young years!!! Amen and Amen!!! Loved your strong, uplifting comments on this..Another “warrior” amongst us…Amen!!!
