**A Mother’s Self-Esteem http://christianwomentoday.com/parenting/momselfesteem.html
“Point your kids in the right direction—when they’re old they won’t be lost” (Proverbs 22:6 The Message).
A little boy was in front of the whole church when he forgot what he had memorized. His mother was sitting in the first row to prompt him. She gestured and formed the words silently with her lips, but it didn’t help. His memory was blank. Finally she leaned forward and whispered the line, “I am the light of the world.”
The child beamed. With great feeling and a loud, clear voice he declared, “My Mommy is the light of the world!”
Oh, friend, that statement is truer than you think. As a Christian mother, you have a huge responsibility to be the Light of Christ to your children. Pray with them. Read the Bible to them. Take them to church. And make sure your life reflects Christ, too! You can be the light in your child’s world.

Barbara D and Barbara C,
You are both going through real challenges right now..But just want you to know you were just lifted before His Throneroom for relief from your situations…and know am not the only one lifting you! Just think how many are reading at this special site and lifting! The hardest thing in this world is “waiting”..But our wonderful Lord Jesus IS working on these situations! Praying good day, full of blessings, for you both! HE is bigger than a third shift..and BDD..and today am believing Luke 18:27 for you both..”What is impossible with man is more than possible with HIM”!!! Amen!! (((Hugs)))
Hi Everyone, I am so enjoying this conversation and you all are so right in your view points, each from where you stand. God bless each of you as you continue to try to walk with Him daily and share that walk with others. I so agree church is very important, Bible Study is vital. I think, I deeply believe we need to teach our children and grandchildren from day one. They are never to young to start learning about God. Ands you can do it in many different ways but do include Bible Study as well as soon as they are old enough. You might find an article I have written interesting. It is posted at Helium.com and the link follows. This may also open up my other links. I’m not sure. Help yourself and read at your pleasure. In His name, by His grace, Annette

This devotional is a great reason why I want off of third shift. Dianne responded several weeks ago how she didn’t attend church when she worked this shift because she would fall asleep. That’s where I am! Therefore, my kids are being deprived of the experience, since I cannot go most Sundays after working Saturday night. I maybe attend once a month if that. It is SO distressing, and makes me even more discouraged and frustrated. I feel like I’m trapped with NO WAY OUT. I want to be a godly mom but am too drained by my circumstances. HELP LORD! A job Mon. thru Fri. dayshift would be a dream fulfilled! I know we are supposed to be content no matter where we are, but so many things seem to be working against my deepest desires. God knows how many YEARS I have desired to have my family in church together – to no avail. The things I value most seem to be beyond my reach.
Trying my best to hang in there and be that role model that God wants me to be for my daughters even though they are older now and living ore independant lives. Living with a disorder that makes you feel and think that you do not even belong living here on earth has been a challenge for me yet i am doing my darndest to still be albe to be a good MOTHER to my dear daughters.
My MOM might not have been the greatest roale model and i disliked her for so many, many years but with the new heart and eyes that Thy Lord has given me, i see her know through the eyes of creator. She is know a light to me even though she has not changed very much over the course of many years but I have changed and that allows me to try to be a better mom and daughter as well.

I am so blessed to have Godly parents that raised me to love God, I can say there were many decisions I made in life that wern’t the rite ones but I always had Gods direction, and my Mother and Fathers prayers, and some days I’ll call my Mother and say “what am I gonna do with them ?” and her answer is always the same PRAY, pray over them at night when they are asleep pray as they leave in the morning to go to school, pray, pray, pray!! We are the light to our children, it all starts at home, and as parents we MUST set a good example…and when I fail I have learned to humbly go to my children and ask for forgivness, our children face so much in these times, lets not forget we were young once too and things that may seem petty to us are very important to them, always listen , and incourage them to pray, and some day when you arnt there they will remember, go to God he always has the answers.
LOL..this was a precious devotional and illustrates the sweet childlike faith we all need! Am so grateful for the two miracles the Lord sent into our lives here (both fine adults today!)..One is raising her own three blessings…I made so many human mistakes when our children were growing up, but the Lord “irons things out” for us in our human ways and is always beside us to help. Thanking HIM that they remember the good points..not the frustrating human days and ways.. Amen..They saw us Pray a lot, too, and ask forgiveness when we fell! Praise, YOU, Father..
Thanking HIM today, too..for my parents with Him now who raised us to know HIM. My Sister and I saw Him in them in all their earthen years..in their kindness towards others..They lived the Golden Rule..Both were humble and giving out of their small incomes..They taught us appreciation and manners..corrected us lovingly when we needed it.. Father, let ours see you in us! Thank YOU, JESUS, for the gift of them!
So true that children live what they learn. I give God Glory for my two oldest children, who are on their own, one with a family, and the othe preparing to wed, who have continued to be faithful in attending a Bible believing church. I realize that they may not have been called to ministry as a Pastor, but they have a ministry in their home and that is to be a Godly husband and father to their children. I thank God that my son with the child attends church with his wife and takes his son to church at a early age, as well as feels called to the youth ministry in his city. It is so vital that we bring our children up in the admonition of the lord, and that we set the Godly example at home, by being consitant in our bible reading and teaching them to pray, so that they do not look to the world for anything, but look to their savior to provide for them. As my last four children grow and move into new lives i pray that I can continue to teach each and everyone how important it is to have that personal relationship with the lord. Praise God they are all saved, and so are my daughter- in-laws. I pray for my children and their families the ones who have a family now and the ones who don’t, daily.
I want my children to always know that God is first in their life.
Oh this was delightful. I can picture it now. Have a grandson that would do just that and the thought made me smile big time. I’, along in years now with 4 beautiful grandchildren and I had the privilege and honor of knowing Christ as a fairly young mother, going to church with them and teaching them of Jesus love for us. I see my children doing the same. Children learn what they live. We read Bible stories together, spend a lot of time outdoors learning about God and His awesome creation. I am so very blest. My grandson (age 9) lives one house down the street from me and we share a lot of time together and the most wonderful times we share are those where we take our “Jesus Walks”. As school started this year there was that whole list of extra-curricular activities and after school programs. They are all good programs so his parents let him choose the ones he would be most interested in. There was one that he REALLY wanted to do but it was going to interfere with his Christian Youth Group. He goes to Sunday school and church so his parents let him choose. He chose his Christian Youth Group and then a different after school program. Children learn what they live. In His name, by His grace, Annette Bromley
while growing my mother made sure we went to mass every Sunday and every religios day like GOOD FRIDAY etc. She followed everything to the letter. NO MEAT on fridays, Had to give up something we enjoyed for LENT, etc Went to confession every week. At one point I even taught Sunday school to 4 year olds.
I may not do everything to that extent now but I am a strong Cathilac and always will be. I don’t have kids of my own but if I did I would of done the same things my Mother of done in teaching them about GOD AND JESUS CHRIST but would add reading the BIBLE to them. Then they would know Jesus Christ on a more personnal level.
