He Has What You Need

Are you dealing with a deep need today? Talk to one of our mentors. http://christianwomentoday.com/chat/ask_other.html

As I read the emails and the blog posts that come in each day my heart is touched by the places where many of you walk. I wish there was time in life to sit over a pot of tea and share with one another about God’s faithfulness to us in the challenges of life. Thank you for sharing your lives here.

As I have thought about you and prayed for you, God reminded me of a prayer in the Bible that is a great model of how to pray for one another. This morning I want to pray this prayer for each one of you reading this today and seeking to trust God in the places where you walk.

Colossians 1:9-14

“Since the day we heard about you we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through spiritual wisdom and understanding.

And we pray this in order that you may
- live a life worthy of the Lord
- pleasing Him in every way
- bearing fruit in every good work,
- growing in the knowledge of God
- being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might

So that you may have
- great endurance
- and patience
- joyfully giving thanks to the Father

who has qualified YOU to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

May you be filled today with all He is and all He has for you as you walk the path before you.

Questions: What do you need from God today? Why is it sometimes hard to trust Him for it?

I am grateful that I do not suffer physically as many of you here do, but I often think that it may just be your spirits of praise and worship in the midst of your suffering that are the most radiant testimonies shared! Linda R, you are such a beautiful reflection of Jesus, and while I pray for His mercy to relieve you of this ‘thorn in the flesh’, your enduring assurance of God’s love and goodness is such a faith-builder! As you wait on Him, you have chosen to use this time to encourage others, and spread the seeds of the Gospel about! Your loving spirit scatters blessings to all who are privileged to know you! :)

To God be the glory for the things he has done. Happy New Year dear ladies in Chirst. What a wonderful devotional today. The Lord does has what we need. Just an update on what the Lord is doing with us with the ministry he has placed us charge over. Things are going to gether very smoothly and the Lord has given us favor over many and I thank God for that. I was losing so much sleep worrying about things that the Lord just put together so quickly. I know these earthen vessels should not worry, but somehow we do. I want all the ladies to know prayer is still going up for you and I truly thank God for this site. I have been so busy and not able to get on it, but I do want all of you to know God is still in the healing business because i believe as you give your testimonies and life experiences it is healing someone. We may not ever know whose life we touch, but know that lives are being touched, restored and healed. I could have not been able to do all that I am doing as one person said above with all this pain in my body and heavy into ministry. To God be the Glory fo rthe things he has done.

Chris, ToniG and the other ladies hang in there. Know that your lives are touching many and I am so thankful for you.

This is a powerful devotional. Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Continue to pray for us that we do the will of God

  • Linda R says:

Dear Lord I just bring Jackie before you right now. Jesus you see how busy she has been and how tired she is, Lord we just ask that you would give her extra strength and give her a Great Night Sleep too, Lord she is so Thankful for all that You have done for her and given her but she would just like this little favor and we just Pray In Your Name that You Would Grant It For Her. Jackie Good Luck in your New Business & May The Lord Richly Bless You & Use You For His Glory In Jesus Name I Pray Amen!

  • eve says:

This devotion reminds me of when i first came to this site and when Fran D suggested praying this very prayer everyday and replacing the ‘you’ with the name of my husband. It’s so long ago now, but i never forgot it and have even keyed in the entire prayer into my mobile phone so that i will always have it with me.

Thank you for sharing this prayer once again and may we all continue to grow in love, grace, peace, joy, wisdom and in Christ!

  • jackie says:

    hello ladies;
I think what I need from the Lord today would be favor. I have been working constantly trying to get my business going . so many things to learn plus taking care of my family.I know all I have comes from the Lord and I am truly thankful, but I get really tired .

  • CHRIS says:

    AMEN LINDA R.
I COULDN’T OF SAID IT BETTER MYSELF.

  • Linda R says:

Linda J I totally agree with what you said. When I made my comment I was really referring to why aren’t other people healed. I have found that God allows a lot of things Good & Bad to happen in our lives but if we keep our eyes on Jesus they will always bring Glory To Him & If we are willing He will use us at some point to be an encouragement to someone else that is dealing with what you yourself have already gone through or are going through whether it be pain, loss of a love one, loosing a job, betrayal of a friend etc, etc. My Goal is to Keep My Eyes On Jesus,& always be a vessel available & ready to be used by Him at a moments notice. I too am only human & the question was what do I need today so I said I had a want more than a need which was for those who are sick and especially in chronic pain to be healed. It is not something that I dwell on as I have given it over to The Lord, but it still is something I would love to see happen right now to each & every chronically ill person. In God’s Perfect Timing It Will Happen! Praise The Lord!!! (I’m just a little impatient)

  • Marilyn says:

Dear ToniG, am praying for you and missing your worshipful musings on this blogsite! May the Lord restore your health quickly and completely, and return you to our gathering place!

  • anonymous says:

This was a powerful devotional. Thank you, and God bless all you beautiful sisters in Christ.

  • Linda J says:

    Linda R
What you shared above just like what I thought. I also have chronic pain–rheumotoid arthritis. I often ask God why He doesn’t heal me.

But now I don’t focus on my problems. I quite agree with June L. She is such a blessing to us. June L always try to encourage others. I think sometimes misery is God’s blessing as well.

2 Cor 1:4 (God) comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

God will use our pain, He comforted us to be other people’s healing medicine.

Gail, I enjoy reading your devotional and I like your website. Thank you for your ministry at this site. It’s so wonderful to have so many precious ladies to share at this blog.

  • June L wrote:
Quote–Maybe there are others reading that are dealing with chronic pain that can share how they deal with it?? (unquote)

I do have Trigeminal neuralgia since 1996. The pain is unbearable when it strikes. My neurologist describes all his patients who has this desease as non-functional. I discuss my treatments with my Neurologist and he gave me the permission to take it only when I need it and to prevent it’s coming. I prayed to GOD that HE will sanctify all my medications and lift it’s side effects. I pray through 1 Timothy 4:4-5 and Mark 16: 17-18 that all substances that I take be sanctified and HE did. I am living a normal life and involved in a very heavy ministry that calls for my devotion and time and on top of that be a part of something HE calls me for my faithfulness. How powerful is the prayer in Colossians 1: 9-14 and that if we take the truthfulness of GOD’s word in our situation HE will give us time to live abundant life inspite of Satan’s attack in our body.

I say YES to JESUS and NO to Satan. It’s not boasting but just sharing my life. I never complain of my pain but the pain of my dear son I shared it here because it’s too heavy for me to carry alone. Praise GOD he is well now and it was through one of the prayer mentors in this site that the attacks of the enemy against his body was broken and he received healing.

Hi to Gail and all my lovely sisters in Christ,

Wonderful devotion today. I love this passage in Colossians. Paul’s prayers and thanksgiving for the church in Ephesus and the church in Philippi are also good examples of how we can pray for each other. These verses are so rich with love and concern for our Christian walk. I haven’t commented recently and wanted you each to know I am thinking of you often and continue to pray for the needs of each of you.

    Laurika,
My heart is heavy for you…you have faced some pretty hard situations this last year. Remember you are never alone…God is with you in these things and through them…trusting is something I have learned one step at a time…each situation I have faced has prepared me for the next and so on. I can reflect on God’s goodness to me when times are hard and know I can get through it because of His faithfulness in the past. Hang in there sister…I will be praying for you.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. In His love, Donna

  • Fran D. says:

Gail, bless you for sharing a prayer we’ve said here for years..And like one person commented..inserting the names of those we are praying for where it says “you” produces powerful results when offered up to our Lord, too! Hope you know how much we all cherish and esteem you and appreciate your kind, loving heart and prayers for us all!

A storm headed our way here..but wanted to say hello quickly and want you all to know many prayers UP!

Bless you, dear Shirley, and thank you for sharing about the Holy Spirits glow…Hallelujah and AMEN!!!

Our son will be headed back to CA on Saturday, early morning..Am already shedding tears..But am so blessed to have had this precious time with him..He has been wonderful to his Dad and I and we are so grateful..Both adult chilren that way..and we are among the blessed! Thank YOU, Lord, for them!!!

Praying, esepcially, for you dear ones who have the chronic pain, too..Will never give up on prayers for healing! And you are all so dear and some of the most caring at this site.

Have a good weekend dear Sisters…

  • June L says:

Shirley, loved your comment, and your vivid description of “well-being.” I was going to leave this scripture earlier, that I have been pondering the last few weeks, but little Alex, my grandson, had other plans. The scripture was in another devotion yesterday, confirming what I have been wanting to share, and it is this:
2 Cor.1:4 “GOD COMFORTS US…that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble.”

I feel one of my gifts is “encourager” and I try to encourage precious ladies at this site. Sometimes I feel I may be leaving something out. And then it could be just that I am not dealing with chronic pain.

Shirley, as LindaR commented so many here are in pain. Would you share other ways the Lord has comforted you in your daily walk?

Maybe there are others reading that are dealing with chronic pain that can share how they deal with it??

  • Linda R says:

Shirley thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Heart warming experience of The Holy Spirit Coming Upon You it just sends goosebumps up and down my spine, Yes what a Wonderful God We Serve. When I think of what I need from God today I have to say it is more of what I want for others & myself and that is physical healing. I Know God can do it but I find it so hard to understand why he doesn’t heal his own children who are in chronic pain for example Toni G, Michelle,Chris, Renaelawson,Judy K and I know there are many others that I am not aware of or have forgotten. I know The Lord is in Control of each of our lives and there is a time for everything but it just seems that those of us who are in chronic pain could be so much more useful for the Lord if we were pain free, yet I ultimately know I have to Leave It In Gods Hands.

  • ToniG says:

Gail, Thank you for a powerfull devotional. He has what we need and yet we still shop around emotionally and physically. Thank you so much, as I know we women are all so happy to come here and read such prayer and words of the Lord. May the Lord continue to bless us with his faithfullness and love like no other. In Jesus name I pray,ToniG

  • Shirley says:

Gail thank you for today’s inspiring devotional. When I
was reading the devotional, my eyes began to fill with tears. when I read the question Gail you asked, what you
need from God today? The most heart warming thing happen to
me, the Holy Spirit came upon me and I felt so a feeling
of well-being. My answer to your question Gail is this, at
this very moment(still simmering in the after glow} there
is nothing I need today from God. As long as God continue
to be who he is in my life, it is truly well with my soul.
What the Lord let me know is this, If I truly can trust him
with my whole heart in all things, everyday I will be able
to say no there is nothing I need from God today. If I was
to move from this moment that he has me at, yes there would
be a whole list of things I could name. Right now I choose
to just simmer in this all is well feeling he has brought
upon me! I am at my desk in my office on my computer at work
typing this and it is so hard to keep the tears under con-
trol. What an awesome God we serve. I truly believe that
God ordain me to share this moment with you all, because it
happen right at the moment I was reading the devotional.
Sisters in Christ I must get off now because it is getting
so difficult to keep my composure. Blessing, prayers, and
    love to all.

Love the Colosians prayer too…and have prayed it many times for others. Thank you Gail for praying for us. We all need His prayers daily.

Cheryl, I love your comments and how you pray this prayer for your children. I like you believe that a mother’s mission in life is to continuously labor for her children in prayer. I am seeing many prayers answered for my only son right now, and I give our Lord the honor and praise.

God has taught me sooo much and is allowing me to teach my son and his family. PRAISE HIM!!

  • Nora Hansen says:

Gail just a big thank you. I’ve been reading your devotions for a while now and your always stand out so. They make my day and help me through my day. God Bless you dear and know you are making a difference. I’m so happy I found this web page.

  • renaelawson says:

    Gail,
Thank you for your prayers and the passage shared. This is definitely a website to come to when you’re in need or when you need to be there for others. I haven’t been on too much lately because of the holidays/kids home, etc. but also physically I have been in a lot of pain. I’m believing in 2008 God has something for me and this pain will break off and leave my body. One thing I have learned throughout my trials is praise and worship music. As I type now I have it playing and when I’m laying down it’s playing….it brings so much peace and a better focus. My body might now work like it should but my heart and mind do and I can still use them for Him. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks everyone for all you do here.

  • Gail R,
Thank you so much for the great devotional.

As an intercessor, this is such a great prayer and Bible verses for me to memorize and recite it for me and for the many groups I regularly present to GOD for HIS touch, blessings and anointing so that they may powerfully go forward as CHRIST’s ambassadors.

GOD bless you Gail for sharing what GOD has put in your heart. It will surely create a ripple of power, strengh and victory for GOD’s servants around the world. :-)

    In CHRIST,

    Romel

  • Julie says:

Thank You! It’s so wonderful to know that others are praying for me, even if you don’t know me personally. I needed that this morning.

  • Judy D says:

Thank you, Gail, for the special prayer/devotional for us. How fun it would be for us all to be gathered round that table with a pot of tea, praying and lifting one another up to the Lord. I will print this one out and keep it in my prayer notebook.

Laurika, the heartache you have experienced did not come from the Lord. Please know that. He loves you and sent His only Son, to die for you. Remember, we live in a sinful world and so discouraging and bad things happening. When we are hurting and confused, that is when we need to go to the Word of God. Read it. Spend time in it daily. Also, pray. Get a notebook and spend time in prayer with God. Write down people you want to pray for . . . praises and requests. . . prayers for forgiveness . . prayers for God’s direction . . .
I am praying for you, Laurika and Janetta, too.

  • cheryl says:

    Gail,
This is one of my favorite passages that I pray using my children’s names in the “you” places. A few years ago God guided me to a verse that I’ve read many times, but that day Colossions 4:12 jumped off the page and that still, small voice in my heart said “this is who you are to be to your children”.

“Epaphras (put your name here), who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”

Just as I “labored fervently” to give physical birth to my children, I will continue to “labor fervently” for them in prayer…so they will stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. That’s my mission every day. They are in their 20′s now and my labor hasn’t eased up one bit.

Can’s you see this servant of God (who has the same needs spiritually and physically as those he prays for because he is “one of you”) praying intently, specifically for people who need to stand perfect and complete in God’s will….isn’t that what we all need…so we know how to pray for others…that is always a prayer that God will honor.

So dear friends….always labor fervently in prayer for those God gives you opportunity to pray for…that is the greatest gift you can give someone. Thank you Gail for reminding me of God’s calling for my life…

  • Nelly says:

Thanks for the wonderful Devotional of today.
When faced with a difficult situation and knowing that God is able to show us a way through, it is sometimes very hard to surrender all to Him. It might be because of Fear. I will request for prayers for me to eliminate the fear aspect in my life.
May you be inspired to spread the Word far and wide.

  • janetta says:

thanks for a really great devotional. trusting god is hard for me. i am a kinda person who wants to know right now how things are goingto be or turn out,and that is somethign god needs us to have patience on and trust him .n god only wants the best for us and knowing that and putting everything in his hands and standing back is not the easiest thinsg for me. but please pray for me in that and thanks you again

  • Barbara T. From Florida says:

Hi everyone and God’s blessings to you all…

Lately my faith has really grown. I am so excited about that. God is so good all the time.
God directed me to thinking on MARY. You all know the story about Mary and how the angel came and told her she found favor with God and that she was going to have a baby and would name the baby Jesus, Right?
Well that was put in my mind and I have been meditating on how Mary just accepted this as God’s plan and will for her life. Mary didn’t argue about it, Mary didn’t fuss about it or say why Me?. She did say if I remember correctly, “So be it as you say it is to be” or something to that affect. Mary Willingly
accepted the path God had for her. Wow, this really made me think about acceptance. Accepting life on God’s terms, thy will be done, not mine.
This has really blessed me lately with more faith and more trust because as I have meditated on this I asked God to give me the faith and trust that Mary Had. I do believe
God has answered that prayer and is moving me into a better place of faith and trust.
Thank you for this prayer today, I was very blessed by it.
Stay Blessed because we are Blessed and why not!!!
Thank you Abba Father, Jesus and HOly Spirit for this day may we all be bless and may we all rejoice and be glad in this day.
    Amen and Amen

  • Laurika says:

Why is it so hard to trust? So hard to hand over? Do I like thinking that I have faith of a mustard seed, or is it just easier to admit to that than to maybe more serious issues. Fear – a fear of trusting maybe? Many things that I left behind, asked forgiveness for and received healing for seems to be so much part of my being after being left for another woman in 2006, getting devorce in 2007 with my mom passing away 3 days prior to having my marriage ended in court. Many times I think, for me, trusting God in the little things (where I could possible try another avenue to resolve what the problem might be)is ok, but in the big things, where I have not experience His presence – I doubt. There is no alternative way, no alternative solution, no alternative answer. But the dissappointment in feeling neglected, rejected, or maybe just forgotten. I believe in God out Father, but….

  • CHRIS says:

THANK YOU GAIL FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DEVOTIONAL.THIS PRAYER IS WONDERFUL AND WORTH REPEATING ON A DAILY BASIS.
