It’s been 80 years since the first Oscar was given out, and over the years, the Academy Awards have become the red carpet event of the year. Anyone who is anyone in the film industry dresses up in their finest to sit through hours of acceptance speeches. i found it a little boring, too, compared to some other years. i did enjoy the product placements though (wonder how much they each paid for that?!). bring back billy crystal!

I agree with you Claire. There was nothing too exciting about this year’s awards, no one ranted about anything, and even the fashion seemed subdued. Even though I didn’t know who Marion Cotillard was, I was touched by her genuine excitement and joy at having won best actress. It was very nice to see international actors recognized.

I liked the 60 second version a lot better than the real thing. The Oscars felt kinda flat this year. I guess it would have helped if I had seen any of the best picture nominees, but still. This is Hollywood, their specialty is making things up. Couldn’t they conjure up a more entertaining telecast?
