This devotion was very encouraging to me as I am a Nanny to my Grandson who is now 4 months old. I have been praying for him since he was conceived.

Last week I started reading him bible stories from a children's book. He loves light...as most 4 months old do. The first story I read him was from Genesis when God made "light." When I read that part he looked up at me, and smiled.
That evening his mother and I took him to Walmart for shopping, and as his mother said: We will take Alex shopping "because he likes people and will enjoy seeing all those people at Walmart." The next day our story was about God making people. I know he doesn't understand the words or pictures, but hopefully he is feeling secure and loved as I hold him. He will understand the stories in a few years.

Jackie, and others, I love scrapbooking too, and included prayers in my son's "Creative memory" books. He will always have inspirational stories, and scriptures along with his pictures. I have 3 books that are packed from birth to 13 years of age.

Thanks Lillian! I will definitely check out the website you mentioned.

Thank you for this encouraging and practical devotional. My husband and I love praying for our grandchildren. And I meet weekly with two other grandmas to pray for our children and grandchildren. What a blessing. We use the Moms In Touch Format. For more information on that: http://www.momsintouch.org/

I agree, Patti. It is a great teaching tool! And legacy to be handed down. This really can be expanded and used. Great job for sharing with your daughters and including Joe, too. That is awesome. Cudos to you, my friend. love, Judy

I love this idea and plan to make one for each grandchild. I want them to be here when I make them, select the picture they want, info., ect.,

I told my two daughters about this and they think it is wonderful to do it in their individual families. In talking to my husband about it at noon, he wants to be involved as well......

I think the neat thing about this, is that when the children see the Grandparents with a prayer journal, especially for them, they will be encouraged, and we will also encourage them to call us with their prayer request. What a wonderful teaching tool it will be and they will be more aware of answered prayer!

I know for me, my Grandmother was the only Christian influence in my life. She represents the kind of legacy I want to leave for my grandchildren. I want to be remembered one day, as a Godly Grandmother.

thanks for today's devotional. I never thought of a prayer
journal for my granddaugher. I have only one grandchild and
that is a granddaughter. My granddaughter is such a blessing
in our lives. First of all I had only boys{3), so this makes
her very special right off. My granddaughter was born with a
chronic illness so she has been throught a lot. The doctor
said she may not live to get to the age of 3yrs old. Thank
God that God is in controll and we put our trust in him. My
granddaughter this year will be making 14yrs od, praise God
for his great grace! When she was 3yrs old I had her in the
kitchen with me, and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said,
"if she can sy daddy she can be saved". I immediately stop
and start speaking to her about Jesus. I then led her to the Lord, by a confession. Well a few weeks later at my
church, one Sunday, my pastor called some young children
up in the pulpit and spoke Jesus to them , and got them to
confess Christ. My pastor then said that the Holy Spirit
had spoken and said,"if they can say daddy they can be saved". I could have ran around the church, I knew this was
the Lord doing to cofirmed to be that it was really he that
spoke to me about saving my granddaughter. I am so thankful
to God for doing this special thing for my granddaughter.
My granddaughter loves the Lord she in services 2-3 times
a week. She love to sing and praise God she is a member of
the praise team. My granddaughter is favored my so many
peoples because of her sweet personality. So I am in prayer
for her daily from the time she was born. The power of Prayer has brought her a long way and I am so thankful to
God. Ladies have a bless day in the Lord.

Thank you, Lillian, this was a superb lesson in praying for our grandchildren. I like, Jackie, have been just using a regular notebook for my prayer journal. I realize there is much more I can and should be doing.

Jackie, I liked your idea as grandparents making prayer photo notebooks with our grandchildren and, thereby, help teaching them to pray daily and using scripture.

Wow what a super idea!! I like Jackie am a scapbook "junkie" and feel this is really something I'd love to do........and this made me realize that I haven't been individually praying for my grandchildren. They will be coming to visit us at Easter so this would be a great time to get started on something like this, when I can begin it with them. Thank Lillian.......so much for an idea that was really needed in my prayer life!!
