What Have I Heard?
by Marilyn Ehle
**How is your relationship with Jesus Christ? Is your conversation always full of grace, seasoned with salt? Here is an Online Bible Study to help: http://thelife.com/study/knowjesuspersonally.html
“Ask those who heard me. Surely they know what I said” (John 18:21).
Jesus has been arrested and now stands before the highest of religious authorities to be questioned about his motives and methods. Most of Jesus’ closest friends have either fled in terror or are standing far away from the center of action.
When asked to provide a verification regarding his authority to teach and heal, he replies that everything he has said or done was in full view – he had not been secretive or underhanded. “If you don’t believe me, ask those who heard me…”
Were we to be called before judge and jury to defend the honor of Jesus, could we clearly articulate the message of Christ? It is far easier to speak about good feelings, a future heaven, or a somewhat blurry religious experience than to clearly and intelligently discuss the teachings of Jesus.
The Apostle Paul tells us “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” It is right to enjoy our quiet times of listening to Jesus, but such listening requires that we then be ready to speak.
~Lord, I love hearing you speak to me but sharing what I have heard is not so easy and not always pleasurable. Help me hear you correctly and clearly and then speak with love.
Questions: Why is it important to not only hear but also to speak His Word? How can we make sure that when we speak, we speak clearly and intelligently?

Dear Patti,
Praying for you at Easter Sunday…For victory over the situation you are struggling with. May you be all that God has called you to be. As Loreli said our battle is hard but
God is faithful. Love and hugs, Donna
How many times I have spoken and my life not lined up with my words.
I think of Colossians 4:3 ‘Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds. That I may make it manifest as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.’
I KNOW Whom I have believed……….I know He has protected and ministered to me as no man can. I know He saved me from death to eternal life and may I never be ashamed to share that….over and over again.
I covet your prayers for Easter Sunday….as I am struggling with one who will be here. I Praise Him for it, yet I struggle with my human emotions.
Good devotional today. I also think that our attitudes and actions speak volumes about who we are in Christ. People look very closely at Christians and so how we live can have a great influence on those around us. So much so that they can become courious and drawn to Christ in us. I also pray that each of us will hear and speak God’s truth but along with that live God’s truth so that we don’t hinder the gospel.
Loving you all from far away…May His peace, joy and love fill your whole being today. Donna
Thanks for today’s devotional. We grow in our faith through
hearing the word of God. The apostle Paul said this,”we
believe, therefore we speak, for we know whom we believe in”. It is important for us to share our faith with others,
so they can believe in whom we believe in(Jesus Christ).I
agree with others who said we need to pray to God to give
us the words to speak, and how to speak them. The Holy Spirit will speak through us if we are open to listen, then
to hear, and then obey what the Spirit of God is speaking.
we are God’s ambassadors in this foreign land. We are here
in this foreign land to represent him and his kingdom. There
-fore we speak on his behalf and his kingdom, we also care-
full that our conduct reflex him and his kingdom is a postive light. People sometime are not easy to approach or
talk to, they have put up walls due to a number of things.
Some also have been under teaching that may not line up with
the word of God, but they believe it does. Some people have
been wounded by church people so they are hostile and angry.
I need the wisdom and Spirit of God to guide and lead me in
what to speak, and when to speak, and whom to. I pray that
I will always allow the Holy spirit to shed God’s love in
me and through me to everyone. Even the one that may reject
the words of truth in a harsh and very unkind manner let me
show love. I realize that the questions that was asked, after thinking on what was asked, I must admitt that it is
a must that we have the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I also
must admitt that there are times when I may fail to really
listen to him like I should. When I fail to listen then I
fail to hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking. When this
happen then instead of speaking what he want me to say, I
will lean to my own understanding and speak my words. This
can lead to misunderstandings, confusion, and things not
turning out well. Ladies I pray that God will use you in a
mighty way, that the Holy Spirit will guide and lead you in
all truth as you purpose to hear, speak and walk in his word. Have a rewarding day in the Lord!
GODS WORD IS TRUTH HELP ME TO SPEAK THE TRUTH
It is not always easy to know what to say so it is right to ask Jesus to guide us in our words and give us the words to speak. I have seen this when I was praying for a friend and didn’t know what to pray. The words that came to me were not my words but had such powerful meaning to her. When we use our words they seem so empty. Therefore, before we speak we should say Lord your words, not mine.
Have a blessed and joyous day in Jesus!
Deb
It’s important for us to stay connected to God’s word. Thanks for todays devotional. God’s word does not return void, every word spoken is significant. The mouth speaks life or death. Speak life today my friends over your children, family, friends and your pastor and his family. Our battle is hard these days but God is Faithful!!!
MARGARET IS RIGHT WE CAN ONLY ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP US SPEAK THE TRUTH FOR GOD’S WORD IS THE TRUTH, THE WAY AND THE LIGHT.

God’s word is truth and has authority! We ask the Holy Spirit to help us speak truth.
