“God is faithful, reliable, trustworthy, ever true to his promises and he can be depended on” (1.Corinthians 1:9 Amplified).

“God is faithful.” We often say the words to each other. But what do they mean? Does it mean that God will shield us from trouble? That He will answer all our prayers?

David had a lot to say about God’s faithfulness. The surprising thing is, he wrote many of his psalms while going through great difficulties. David was in a cave in the wilderness hiding from King Saul. He was innocent of any crime. In fact, he had served King Saul well. But when the people sang about David’s victory over Goliath, Saul became intensely jealous. He saw David as a threat to his throne and determined to wipe him out. So, here was David, his reputation ruined, his life in danger, pouring out his heart to God.

Often he would conclude his prayers with a joyful declaration like the following:

“All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant” (Psalm 25:10).

“Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies” (Psalm 36:5).

“But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (Psalm 86:15).

What was David saying? God is faithfully working in all seasons of our life. Even when winds of adversity blow against us, God is present and God is working. As surely as spring follows winter, new life will follow. That’s why, we can sing of the faithfulness of God – even from a cave.

~”Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!” Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!”

Questions: Why was David able to praise God in all his situations? What has God’s faithfulness meant to you in your life?

    HI Andi,
I live in the suburbs of Sydney. I’m orginially from California and moved here almost 14 years ago. The US and Australia have been allies for a long time. Our new prime minister was recently visiting the president, I think just last week. I thank God for our leaders and the freedom He has given us in our countries….its important to pray for our brothers and sisters around the globe that don’t have that priveledge. Have a lovely day Andi….Donna

Been to Cairns and a few other tourist spots up north. Heron Island for a short stay. My husband loves Oz & my dad taught me to love the Aussies! [he served with them during WWII]. He also thot highly of the Norwegians.

  • Janet says:

Oops–I meant to type “For me THAT sums up God’s faithfulness to me.” Sorry ’bout that!

  • Janet says:

This is a correction on my first posting.

Our ABBA FATHER did not give up HIS SON but HE gave us HIS SON on Calvary to bring us back to HIMSELF.

Brenda and any others who may be interested

I have put together what I call “It is Written”. It contains a collection of verses that are based on James 7 that I speak out loud when I feel that I am in the midst of a battle. This not only encourages me, but I believe also pushes back the enemy and brings God’s angels into the battle. (Eph 3:11,12, Heb 4:12)

The latter section focuses on encouraging us in our own walk as we seek to ensure that Satan has no doors of access into our lives by our own disobedience. It finishes with encouragement to fulfil the great commission.

I will forward it on request.

Welcome Andi! You really will enjoy this site and get to meet & know a lot of wonderful Christian Ladies from all over the world. I am late reading the devotional today but as I read it and each ladies comment I couldn’t help but think of how Faithful God has been to me in my life. I have gone through hard times like my first husband passing away when my daughter was 10 months old & I was 20. Then remarrying a wonderful Christian man, having two wonderful sons &having my then 15 1/2yrs old daughter be killed in a car accident. You might ask how can I say God is Faithful. Well, because He was with me, He never left me, He brought me to the knowledge that He Never Makes A Mistake. It was Terry’s time to go at age 21 and Lee-Anna’s time to go at age 15 1/2. God Never say Whoops!, that one wasn’t suppose to die right now. No, He Is In Control Of Each & Everyone of Our Lives & the sooner we let Him have Total Control the sooner we will see “What A Faithful God He Is”.He never promised us a rose garden but He did promise He would Never Leave Us Or Forsake Us. I would just like to share one more thing and that is that the day Lee-Anna was killed she had left a letter for her Grandma with a scripture verse on the bottom. The letter was given to me to keep & I always felt that scripture was meant for me & for me to share. It was Psalm 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
I have had to claim that scripture many at time over the years when I start to worry about something. Maybe some of you might find it a helpful scripture too. Last of all Lee-Anna always signed every little note or long letter “Keep Smiling For Jesus” so we had that put on her tombstone. Sharon I’ll be praying for your dear neighbor. Donna I continue to pray for you & Steve. Debra you & your husband are on my prayer list too & Tiysh & will put you on my prayer list so I will remember to pray for you each day. Hugs Linda!!

Thanks so much Helene Grace for such a great devotional.Nice to meet you Andi. I hope this is just the beginning of your great fellowship with us, however, I haven’t been here long either in this area of the website.
Good evening ladies. What an awesome devotional we have. Well, all our devotionals are awesome and we thank our TruthMedia and all the people concerned for making this such a great ministry to address our needs.

Yes, our GOD is faithful! The Bible says, a nursing mother may forget her baby but never our GOD will forget us. We are written in HIS heart and on the palm of HIS hand. We got to remember that anything that we go through is to build up our character. We are HIS workmanship, HE is our character molder. HE would like us all to become the brethren of HIS SON that HE loves so we should never think of any refusal or lack of attention on the part of our Abba FATHER. HE loves us so much that HE gave up HIS only begotten SON to bring us back to HIMSELF. Do you think after such a great sacrifice that HE did for us that HE would change HIS attitude towards us? Not in a million years. Not now nor in the coming days or years. We can rest assure on the love of the HOLY TRINITY. Our DADDY employs all HIS gifts and attributes and provides us unlimited success to all the resources of HIS being. HE always makes it sure that all heaven and its blessings lay before a praying Christian. Yes, prayer is GOD’s triumph of the highest level of spiritual engineering that should make us at peace while we are in our journey going home to that place HE has prepared for us.

Do you know what worry is all about?

40% are things that will never happen
30% are about the past which can’t happen
12% are about criticism by others mostly untrue
10% are about health which gets worst with Stress
8% are about real problems that can be solved

“Worry works a little like the London fog- the kind of the London fog that is legendary. Why, it wouldn’t be a Scherlock Holmes story without fog to obscure the villain and allow him to get away. “Thick as pea soup,” Londoners describe it. “Can’t see your hands in front of your face,” they say.
However, while physical fog may seem dense and almost solid, the scientists tell us that a fog bank a hundred feet deep and covering seven city blocks is composed of less than one glass of water. Divided into billions of droplets, it hasn’t much substance. Yet it has the power to bring the whole city into standstill.

So is it with anxiety. Our minds disperses the problems into billions droplets of fear obscuring God’s face. Taking our anxiety to the Lord is usually the last thing that we think of when we are spiritually fogged in. And yet it is only the “SON” who has the power to disperse it. Without Him, one fear leads to another and our lives slow to a painful crawl. ”

Why is the Bible adamant about avoiding fear and worry? Because GOD knows that worry short circuits our relationship with HIM. It fixes our eyes on the situation than our Savior.

    Philippians 4:6-7NIV
“Do not be anxious about anything but by everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to GOD. And the peace of GOD which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in CHRIST JESUS.”

    Brenda,
I sense that you might be very discouraged right now. For some reason I immediately thought about what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30. He says “learn from me” and “you will find rest”. Ask God to help you persevere with His word. The more you read, the more you will learn about Him and the more you will find rest. As you take in more and more of His word he will speak to you through it and you will find those special passages to read when you face difficulties. Write them down….or highlight them in your Bible. Meditate on them. Memorize them and they will become part of your being. The Holy Spirit is there to help you with this, just ask.

I will be praying for you Brenda. I’m sure others will too.
Love and blessings to you dear sister. Donna

I have done a word study on praise and put together a document on same. You may prefer to do your own ,but If you would like a copy of mine send me your address via psooyp@mts.net

This is of course open to anyone else who is interested.

  • Joan says:

Reply to Brenda – Read the psalms. When I am bombarded, I start by reading psalm one and simply go through the entire book. As I read, I search for praise verses and chapters and read them aloud. I also read aloud the many prayers that I find in the psalms. Many times as I read, the Holy Spirit will impress a certain verse, verses or chapters upon my heart and I take the time to meditate on these. Pslam 121 has been a tremendous source of strength and inspiration to me. I hope this helps!

  • Andi says:

Greetings back to you too Donna! I’m looking forward to getting to know you more thru this blog.
    Andi

  • Brenda says:

I know he is faithful but it is hard to stay focused on him when i am bombarded with difficulties on all sides. sometimes it is even difficult to keep reading the word. can someone tell me where to read during these times??

  • mac says:

Not always am I willing to accept God’s love for me. When I get down on life in general, I choose to stay in the pity party and wallow in sorrow. It is a choice – not God’s. I know He is there and thankfully, He understands that our human body and mind have the capacity to choose. I don’t usually ‘stay there’ long, but I recognize that when I do not place God first, I am not obeying his purpose for my life. I am working on changing this, but it sure seems hard. Our God is awesome and loving and kind and wants the best for us. We must learn to trust and obey in all things that we do.

  • DonnaL says:

Oh, what a glorious God we serve. And His faithfulness is everlasting!! I also love the Psalms….God has carried me through many a difficulty as I have read and meditated on them. Trials and struggles are the one way we can fully understand God’s faithfulness and care of us. We get closer to Him, get to know Him on a different level. He reveals different aspects of His character to us. He knows what is good for us. I am going through one of those challenges right now. My husband has been out of work for over a year now. But I know that our God is faithful and he will walk with us, care for us and provide for us as we make our way through this challenge. One way that He is providing for us is through a job for me. I haven’t worked in 25 years and recently was asked by my church to work in the office doing admin work.

I just wanted to encourage you all today. When we keep focued on Jesus we can’t lose. Satan has no power here, we have victory over his lies.

    Sharonb,
Praying for your dear friend…and thanking God for you and Bill and your servant hearts.

    Welcome Andi,
I know for certain that you will be greatly encouraged by this site. I know that I am. Lovely to read your comments today.

I pray that you each have a blessed day. Loving you all from far away. Donna

LOL!!! ‘He put a new song into my MOUTH not my moth! LOL!!!

  • Andi says:

    Hello Everyone!
    I’m new at this : -)
Reading thru your individual comments I found I could identify with what you all were sharing. How wonderful that HIS truth’s always rise above the ‘fears and tribulations’ we face in life!
Yes, it is in the Praises of HIS people that satan has got to flee, for it seems to be that God ‘dwells in the praises of HIS people.’

Last night I was reading Psalm 91! Gotta love how HE leads huh? Praise HIM!
This morning I did a word search on ‘praising God,’ and it was an eye opener. I use Biblegatway.com if any of you would like to do one as well.
Psalm 40:3 really jumped out at me and spoke to me for this is my testimony to HIS greatness:
“He has put a new song in my moth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear and put their trust and conficent relaince in the Lord!”

I’m wondering what verse about ‘praising HIM’ HE might quicken in all or any of you if you also do this word search.

I hope to get to know you, as your comments sound as if you have developed a relationship w/each other. Is this correct?
If it is I do hope you will welcome me to your group.

Something dawned on me as I read this devotion. The book of Psalms is my favourite book in the bible. I find so much strenth, encouragement and many prayers in it that I can apply to my life and my children’s life. As I was reading the devotion, I’m thinking how unfair for David to go through all he did (you see, I am quite familiar with being wrongly accused) especially when he was someone who trusted and loved God as he did. And then I realized (God turned a lightbulb on for me) that had David not gone through what he did, not written what he wrote, I would not have the encouragement that I have today from his writings. And I praise and thank God for that and that my trials will be encouragement for someone else one day as I continue look to my faithful God to provide, to protect, to shelter, to love, to lead and guide me. He is faithful to keep his promises to us…..how can I not continue to look to him for everything. Thank you for todays devotion.

  • Debra says:

    Catherine,

The Lord wants you to have the perfect peace He promises for all of us. Isaiah 26:3 You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

I love that song “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. It says it all, that God is so faithful to us because of His love for us. It is so easy to get our eyes off of Him. We must continuously look to him for our peace and joy. I was sharing with my son the other day the fruits of the Spirit which are joy, peace and love. Any others are not of God which we should avoid.

My cousin and I are walking through the Psalms, one a day via email. Yes, I have noticed that David always ends his Psalms praising God for his goodness. My cousin Laura reminded me that when we are overcome with fear we need to begin praising God. satan does not like it when he rings the “Praise Bell” with the fear he gives us so when he sees that this is what we do each time he gives us fear, he will eventually get tired of it and stop.

Margaret, It is wonderful that your husband prayed for your home’s safety as well. I pray that my husband will have this desire again. He is struggling with my desire to walk close to the Lord and with his own walk with Him. Pray for us in this time of testing. Thank you,
    Debra

  • Joan says:

God’s incredible faithfulness has kept me these many years as I walk with Christ. Without belief in His faithfulness, I don’t think I would have made it. Things have not always turned out the way I envisioned but as I leaned on His faithfulness, I learned about another attribute of God – His wisdom. I needed to be reminded about His faithfulness and wisdom this morning as I face another circumstance. As I read the devotional I knew immediately that God heard my voice this morning and all will be well and it will all turn out for His glory amd for my good. I will now say and continue to say God’s faithfulness is unending.

  • Catherine Patel says:

I can identify with you tiysh. It is hard to have peace of mind in difficult or challenging situations. Of course, that is when my faith is stretched to the limits. It could not have been easy for Job either. Some of my worse moments come in the middle of the night. I wake up and start thinking and thinking and worrying about things. When I finally can’t stand it anymore, I reach out to God, envision Jesus and myself walking along the beach and I usually have peace and fall asleep. Praise God!

  • sharonb says:

Yes, Tiysh, the war is won, but we are still fighting the battles.
    Keep up the good fight!

  • tiysh says:

its easy to trust GOD in situations like these, but sometimes i get discouraged and it hurts when satan seems to be winning, even though i know God will win in the end.
the strenght to sustain me in such situations is what i ask GOD for amen

  • Cindy says:

I have come to know God is indeed faithful at all times. I can trust in all situations. I can trust Him with everything and everyone I care about.
It’s an on-going process, trusting God. When the enemy brings fear and doubt to me, God says, “Trust me my child. I have never let down, you can trust me.” I must respond to God and say, “yes I will trust you.”
We are not always faithful, but God is always faithful.

  • Margaret says:

I know God’s presence to be real when I am facing difficult times. Sometimes I know it through reading scripture out loud. Just recently someone tried to enter our home. THe person appeared as a Utility man. He was insistant in coming in! I held my ground and wouldn’t let him in. He left and than accousted my husband when he came home. I phoned the police. It took a while for me to settle down after what had happened. I than read out loud

    Psalm 91

We live within the shadow of the Almighty, shelted by God who is above all gods. This I declared, that he alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him. For he rescues you from every trap and protects you from the fatal plague. He will shielded you with his wings! They will shelter you. His faithful promises are your armor.

A peace came over our home. I was still scared but I knew that God was with us and would look after us. I continued to pray and my husband continued to pray! I had my friends pray for us.
Isaiah 49:16 means a lot to me. See I have engraved you in Palm of my Hands.
Thanks for this devotional. It has meant a lot to me today!

  • Becky says:

I know, that I know, that no matter the circumstances my God is faithful. What that means to me is to praise Him IN SPITE OF the situation and praise Him for the victory that awaits.

  • patricia says:

I have found that, although I enjoy times of sweet fellowship with the Lord, there is a different facet to the relationship when I am facing adversity. It is then that His faithfulness and the assurance that there is nothing to fear in His perfect love become more meaningful to me.
