God in Nature

Please open your Bible and read Psalm 19.

Truly “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1) and God is revealed in our natural world: “From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God” (Romans 1:20, NLT).

It is, however, a mistake to base our beliefs on the natural world alone. Christian apologist Matthew Slick notes that “If we look at a beautiful sunrise, we decide god is ‘good’; if we look at a hurricane, we decide god is ‘cruel’” for our world has been corrupted by sin.

Although God’s image which he imbued to us upon creation (Genesis 1:26) has been defaced by our sin, it can never be entirely erased. Similarly, although the world is corrupt, God’s glory continues to peek through the dark clouds, providing illumination for all who allow God’s light to shine in their hearts. (2 Corinthians 4:5-6)

After all, “Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” (1 Corinthians 13:12, NLT) While we might know about God from nature, we can only know Him personally through His Son Jesus Christ and by reading His word to us in the Bible. Nevertheless, we can experience God’s real presence through His creation, and this is one of the amazing gifts that God has given us.

Question:  How can the grandeur of God’s creation help a person begin to know the God who created it?

Well at least I know it is working. One of the places in nature where I feel most closest to God is at the ocean. The beautiful blue green ocean, with its majesty and mystery restores my soul. When I look at the sparkling sun shimmering upon it, I can’t help but feel the awesomeness of God. Sometimes, as an added treat, I am blessed to see dolphins frolicking in the surf. Yes, it is wonderful to see God’s hand in all creation, whether it be through the flowers, the forests, or our own wonderfully made bodies. It is amazing Romel that the same God who made the ocean cares for me personally and wants to be involved in all aspects of my life.

I remember clearly the day I first read Romans 1:20. I remember thinking ‘that’s right…how can anyone ever deny that God created everything? We may not have ever had anyone tell us about Jesus but we certainly have been able to experience and know something about our creator.’

Romel, I too am in awe of the magnificence of God and am also without words to describe his glory. But I do so look forward to the day when we will truly see Him in all His glory….on that day when Jesus returns. What joy!

I pray that you all, my dear sisters, have a most blessed day and weekend. Praying for all the needs here. Loving you all from far away….

Thanks so much for the great devotional.

This devotional takes me back to my high school days when I was taking biology. I remembered taking a petals of flower, leaves of grass and watched the activity inside the leaves and petals. I was in awe thinking, GOD watch all HIS creation and takes care of them all. Then in nursing, in Chemistry, I had learned that even in the innanimate objects there are acitivities going on and GOD is incharge of that too. How about the millions of peoples all over the earth. Have you ever thought that GOD is incharged of everything going on in a person, his emotions desires, cries, pains, struggles, battles? How about his make up, millions of miles that the blood travels, many gallons of water that the kidney filters and put it back in the tunnels where it traveled before, the endless and coordinated beatings of the heart for many years, the thousands of gallons of blood and air the lungs filter to keep us alive, the endless battles between our good armies in the blood to kill or drive away the invading bad guys, the activity of the bell inside our eardrum to figure out the sounds it has received, the configuration of the image our eyes had received to give us the right image we see. GOD is in control of these things in every person on earth and never lost track of the all the prayers we deposited in the throne of grace for healing, for deliverance for learning, for all our needs.. Oh boundless of activities going all over the world, even between Nations and HE Has control over them all. HE controls the activities of Satan in the firmanent, on people and in GOD’s creation…. I truly stand in awe of the magnificence of our GOD. I have no description of HIS wonderment.

And to think that HE thinks of us individually, love us and personally involved with us in all the affairs of our lives is too deep for me to understand, the bottom I cannot touched. I can only prostrate myself before HIM and pray that I would never forget the soreignty of our GOD whereby my loving fear of HIM will always influence my actions and attitudes of my heart. May I love HIM to the uttermost, as much as HE had loved us to the uttermost.

    Hebrews 4: 15-16 KJV
“For we have not a HIGH PRIEST which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
v.16- Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Thanks for today’s devotional. In response to your question,
How can the grandeur of God’s creation help a person begin
to know the God who created it? God’s creation has a voice
that speaks, that proclaim the wondrous works of God. Creation speaks of the works of his hand day after day and
display night after night it knowledge(of the creator).
There is no speech or language where their voice(creation)
is not heard. Their(creation) voice goes out into all the
earth, their (creation) words to the ends of the world.
(psalms 19). God’s word tell us that God’s whole nature
proclaim him in glory. The things that are visible testify
of what is invisible(God). for the things that are visible
was made by that which is invisible (God). All a person has
to do is look up, look around, and look down and behold the
wondrous of God glorious creation, which speaks of him the
creator. We are also part of his creation, we also do speak,
proclaim, and talk about him. We his children have a voice
that cries out in this earth , who he is. Day after day and
night after night our voice, our witnessing, our lifestyle
testify of him, Our God, Our Lord, Our Saviour and Eternal
    King forever and forever!!!!.

Oh wow what an awesome devotional God in Nature. For me I think of creation just couldn’t have just happen. I see the flowers, and trees that have just started to come out! The flowers have been under several centimetres or inches of snow! The treees have been dead looking and now suddenly they come out in the warmth of the weather. Our lives are like that! We go through the storms of life and we wonder whether we will ever see the spring again. The warmth of the sun brings things back to life! I think in the same way we have to look to Son and tell him all that is wrong and his love shines through and warms and heals our hurts.
