We Christians sometimes need to be exhorted, that we may grow in our knowledge of God and deepen our faith. Growing pains. God used your personal experience with marital conflict/abuse to prepare you for ministering to many whom He would place in your path as a Chriatian counselor. Praise God for the blessing of His Spirit in us, that we, just as Paul and Silas, can sing praises and hymns to Him from our own personal prisons! God bless you for your faithful service in His name! When as "Dr. Muriel, I counsel hurting people personally by E-Mail, I try to be gentle with them. Since many of those I counsel tend to blame God for their woes, I thought this devotional might be helpful. Do you think I write off the top of my head in this article? Well,I suffered my burdens for many years, and they came on me through no fault of my own. I was a virgin when I married my husband, and I thought he was my Prince Charming. But after a while, my Prince Charming turned into a beast. And for years I suffered verbal and physical abuse. In addition, he cheated on me. And he never could hold a job very long because of his awful temper and mouth--so we moved 27 times in 28 years. I became the world's greatest packer. But I had one great thing going for me. When I was 24, I turned my life over to the Lord. So He was with me all the way, helping, comforting, guiding me, giving His supernatural peace in worst times. And everywhere we went, I was able to serve the Lord, teach the Word, and help many to come to Christ. I could have become an angry, bitter woman-but the Holy Spirit enabled me to forgive, forgive, forgive--and keep doing the Lord's work. I finally left my husband for fear for our younger daughter's life. And every morning thereafter I work up, smiled at my Lord, and exclaimed, "Thank you, Lord! Another day of peace!" Love ya all! May lost souls come to Jesus because of her shining light for You.
