Resting, Knowing, Depending
**What is making you feel stressed today? Would you like to experience peace in your life?
It was something Barry felt he had to do. The time had come for him to take a stand against the board’s wrongful business decisions. So he resigned from his job. That was months ago. His wife, Olivia, was growing impatient. She prayed and asked others to pray for work for Barry. But nothing happened. The waiting became harder.
One morning Olivia read Isaiah 49, which says, “Then you will know that I am the LORD, for they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.” God showed her through His Word that her peace would come in resting, knowing, and depending upon the LORD and in God’s perfect timing.
Waiting can be hard and Olivia doesn’t know when Barry will be working… But she does know she’ll be able to tell about God’s faithfulness because she waited on Him.
Yes, dear one, walk by faith, not by sight.
~Father God,
Waiting is hard business yet it is something You often call us to as we rest in You and depend on You. Bring Your peace into my life as I wait on Your faithfulness and fill me with Your Spirit as I walk. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

may I share a part of a devotional i’v just read?
”the world responds to difficulties by getting upset and stressed, but Jesus said in John 14:27, that you should stop allowing yourself to be agitated, disturbed and upset.”
sharon, allowing God’s Spirit to guide you out of a stressful lifestyle will bring in the peace and joy you deserve
God bless you
seems my days are always filled with stress all i can do is pray witch is what i need
I handled stress the only way I knew how–bury my head in the sand and ‘wished’ it to go away. I ran away from it and the outcome was always worse than the actual situation. that was then, the past. that was before when my life was void of any faith.
today, how do I handle stress?—discipline in scripture. I agree with you Marilyn that discipline and patient work hand in hand. and there have been some days where I simply cried out to Jesus to take the stress and worry away. there is nothing wrong with giving in and letting Jesus lift the burden even if for only a little bit. prayer for guidance and strength does get heard, I have no dispute on that as I have felt the stress in losing loved ones and my demeanor was as solid as the Rock. and I have been told that lately my impatience has not been present near as much as it was. i’ll give gratitude where gratitude is due, to the Lord.
as it reads in Psalm 121:1-2 ”I lift my eyes to the hills–where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
how can I have this peace? Trust, the Lord has my life now.
I realize the peace that God promises is only achieved thru faith and trust. I know it does not mean we will never have problems….and I would not be truthful, if I said my heart stays in perfect peace.
I do, at times, get caught up in all that is going on in our world…and worry about the kind of world we are leaving our children and grandchildren.
I think more than ever, I am going to have to stay on my knees and walk ever so closely with Him….as the world around is changing so quickly..seemingly moving away from God and His principals.
I must stand on the promises that He will keep me in peace…as I keep my mind focused on Him and things of the Kingdom….
Dear Jesus….Keep our minds constantly focused on You. Let Your promises of peace be an anchor for our souls…that we may rest in You, rejecting all fear and anxiety, knowing that we can walk into the unknown..trusting as Your child.
In Jesus Name…
God’s peace that ‘passes all understanding’ comes when we put our trust in Him, and not in the world. But, this peace will elude us when we live by the flesh and not by faith. Waiting on Him is a lesson in patience and discipline, and produces spiritual growth and character. As His timing is perfect, we can know that He has ordained the precise length of our wait for His purposes and our greatest blessing!
I ask the Lord to help me with my stress! I tend to come and sit in his presence and pray! after a good cry or a flood of other emotions! l
