“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Isaiah foretold that Jesus’ name would be Peace.

“Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:13, 14).

The angels declared that God would bring peace to men through Jesus.

Oh how we need peace!

We need peace in our countries, within and with out; peace in our homes; peace in our own hearts. We need the peace that only God can provide for us.

The peace Jesus brings doesn’t mean the immediate end of strife, or that all disagreement or controversy will cease. Instead, Jesus brings us peace with God, healing our broken relationship through His sacrifice on the cross. Once we have peace with God, we can also have peace in the midst of our circumstances, by resting in the knowledge that He is in control.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

His peace is a lasting peace that is not dependent on the situation or the time of year.

O Holy God, how we need Your peace. Help us not to be troubled or afraid by the uncertainty in our world, but to rest in the knowledge that Jesus has brought us peace with You.

Questions: How does peace with God help us in our daily struggles? When have you experienced the peace “which transcends all understanding” (Philippians 4:7)?

Thank you Suzanne for this wonderful devotional. I know I don’t have the peace that the scripture speaks. I do have fears…mostly I fear loss. I have become very aware lately how quickly life can change and how fragile life can be…. I have realized that every day, every heartbeat and every breath is a gift. Even so, I do, at times, let fear grip me. I want to know that peace.

Linda, what a living witness you are to me. Thank you for being a vessel in ministering to me.

I totally became at peace with God when I came to the realization the He is in Total Control of My Life, That is TOTALLY!!! Nothing Good or Bad doesn’t happen to me that doesn’t first go by Jesus and He either says Okay she can handle that or No she can’t. I am His Child and He is my Father and He is in Complete Control Of My Life and For That I am Forever Thankful!!! Hugs, Linda !!!
