Refreshing and Renewal

Written by Brigitte Straub

Are you satisfied with your life? Would you like to pray with someone?

“Ho!  Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters” (Isaiah 55:1).

Refreshing and renewal!   Are you needing that today? Life can wear us down, and we can become wearisome and tired of the business of life.   We often tend to believe that there are people or things that can help us rejuvenate; perhaps a vacation…  But, the truth is, we have everything we need in God.

True satisfaction is in Him.

David knew and understood that his cry for more could only be quenched by the living God.  Psalm 42:1 says “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God”.

Whether we realize it or not, there is an insatiable desire within each and every one of us for renewal from the Living God because we can only be truly satisfied in Him.

The Living Water

In John 4:14 Jesus says “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.  But, the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life”.

And again, in John 7:37  He says “If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.  But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believe in Him would receive.

This invitation to an abundant life is for you!  This life can only be found in Him.

The Spirit of God is given to us liberally without reproach.   We just have to receive, drink, and partake of Him.  He IS Love, He IS Peace, HE is Joy,  He is your Hope, Strength, Deliverer, and Conqueror, Almighty God, Father, Friend and first Love.  In faith, receive all He is.

When Jesus satisfies us we also become channels of spiritual refreshment for others as well! How wonderful!

Holy Spirit, I welcome You here in my midst.  Come and fill me up.  Fill me to overflowing so that others will be touched by You!  I come and drink from You.  I receive all You are and all You have for me.  You are all I need and all I desire.  Thank you for Your presence.

Thank you as well Brigitte for this devotional.
my life is truly blessed but thats not to say that continual daily devotion, discipline, fellowship should ”chill”. I crave Him (His refreshment as you’ve said here). I have an insatiable thirst that doesn’t desire to be quenched. The first time I read John 7:37, I felt Jesus calling me personally(within).
I am not satisfied in that I want, no, desire more. I desire the intimacy that comes with this awesome love relationship. I have lived more than 3/4 of my life without Jesus; why would I want to settle for anything less for my soul, for the salvation, now that I have tasted honey? if this sounds selfish so be it but it’s a good selfish. the selfish me has been to the pit, tasted the vinegar, died for what seemed like infinite. God has seen my weaknesses and yet I feel so privileged that He loves me, always loved me and wants nothing more than my love in return. i’v never experienced a relationship(flesh) that didn’t have conditions. the wonderful thing for me today is that i am the person God created, it just took me a few detours to finally renew the trust. all that I am and have in my life today, I owe to Christ. return the love with obedience, not a lot to ask in return and spend eternity with Him.

Thanks Brigitte for such the powerful devotional of truth. You said and I quote:
“The Spirit of God is given to us liberally without reproach. We just have to receive, drink, and partake of Him. He IS Love, He IS Peace, HE is Joy, He is your Hope, Strength, Deliverer, and Conqueror, Almighty God, Father, Friend and first Love. In faith, receive all He is.

Yes, I agree with you. All that HE is can be ours if we take HIM fully LORD of our lives and we have fully surrender to HIM the throne of our lives. HE must increase. I must decrease. This reality comes when HE come forth, the visible figure in our lives and ourselves becomes invisible!

GOD bless you as you let yourself to be used a vessel for GOD’s glory!
