“Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long” (Psalm 25:4 & 5).

Father in Heaven, thank you for the promise and hope of Your word. Thank you that You can be counted on to guide me through my day. Today I need to walk in the hope that only You can give. My way is unclear, my path sometimes feels like it twists and turns in confusing and busy ways as I wind my way along my journey.

Show me Your ways, Lord. Show me how You would walk in these places. Teach me Your paths of grace and mercy and integrity and love. Help me to grasp Your ways so I can walk securely in them even in insecure places. I need Your perspective today.

Guide me in Your truth, Lord. With out Your Word active in my heart and mind I cannot know Your truth. Help me to make time to read my Bible. Help me to take time to think on it and let it penetrate my heart. Lord, Your Word will guide me as a beacon and a light. I need Your word to guide me. Forgive me when I have left it on the shelf or have simply grabbed a verse and run off for the day, quickly forgetting what I read.

Thank you that You promise to guide me and teach me as I let Your truth impact my heart and my mind.

Oh Lord, You are my Savior, my rescuer and my redeemer. You alone are the One who restores and renews my spirit and brings meaning to my life. You bless me. May my heart overflow with thanksgiving to You for Your hand in my life.

I will put my hope in you today, all day long. Remind me by Your Holy Spirit to look to You to guide me. Call me into Your quiet presence to think on Your truths and may I not be distracted. This is the oxygen of my soul. Thank you that You  give the hope and help and peace I need today. Thank you that You never cease to call me to Yourself. Help me to respond afresh to Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ strong name I pray, amen.

Questions:
How does your life reveal to others that all your hope is in God? How does that hope make a difference when you are faced with financial or other losses?

  • Kathy Wiggers says:

I was reading the devotion for the day. It was just what I needed to be reminded of as a decision is weighing on my heart. Everything Gail writes always seems to be just what I need to hear on that day. We need more of your thoughts, Gail.

Our lives are showing peace & faithfulness toward God even though we are still waiting for a job for my husband. He is getting some part-time work which we believe is God inspired but it is still not enuf $$$$ to meet all of our needs. At first it was very scary but as the months have gone by & we have seen our needs being met thru ‘envelopes containing money’ arriving in our mail box, food dropped off at the door, and other acts of kindness from folks around us we are being reminded of HIS faithfulness and that we can indeed ‘put our hope in God!” As a result ‘Others’ are hearing and seeing of God’s provision and care as we tell them of these things [including the part-time jobs]. Not all of our needs are being provided by believers; I throw that in to show that God will use whomever HE wants to reach into our souls and spirits!
This HOPE we have helps us to know that we will survive this tuff time and not to fear. For IF God will feed us HE will provide any other needs we may face. Not only that but it goes deeper because we feel a freedom in that HE is teaching us the difference [yet again] between ‘wants and ‘needs.’ Praise God. When I am tempted to fear that a good paying job isn’t out there due to my husband’s age and the economy I just sing songs of praise and humbly ask HIM to continue to help us thru this time & then look ‘expectantly’ for HIS provision! So although it’s a ‘trying time’ it is also very ‘exciting’ and is ‘building our faith’ tremendously!

Andi, your testimony of God’s faithfulness is such an encouragement! Thank you for taking the time to inspire us with your trust in God’s faithfulness and how He is supplying. You are a blessing.

  • Andi says:

How can I/we not help to share the ways in which our Heavenly Father provides for us? It is simply marvellous and amazing when we step back and STOP trying to make it happen.

It is thru our weakness/desperate situations GIVEN over to HIM that HE is then free to work in our lives!
Letting go and giving HIM the reins allows HIM to reign in our lives!
LOL…..that’s a God thot; certainly not my thot! Praise HIM…LOL

  • Marilyn says:

As we realize that all that we have is not ours, but on loan to us by God, and that He may choose to take from one of us and bless another, we find it easier to let go of the things of this world. I have often thought that the fewer material things we have, the less distraction from our ‘first love,’ and the greater our dependence upon Him, which leads to deeper intimacy with Him. Sometimes, God causes financial uncertainty and sometimes He allows it. But, ALWAYS He provides during it! I join you, Andi, in praising Him for His loving kindness to you and your husband during these times of unemployment! He has used this difficult time to manifest His faithfulness to you and to draw your praises! May it be a faith-builder to those around you, that God holds nothing back from those who trust in Him and pray expectantly! It is my prayer that others can see that “my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness!” Amen!

Yes! We serve an awesome and faithful God who will not ever forget us!! My husband returns back to work after being on a temporary layoff for almost 2 months. God is good! Hang in there Andi….

  • Andi says:

Thanks for your prayers Marilyn and encouragement life-renewed!
Kathy I have prayed for you today as HE has brought you to mind many times. May HE bless you as you seek HIS will in this.

  • Cathy says:

Thanks Gail for your devotion today. Andi, your comments are always inspiring. We are going through a similar situation with my husband’s job loss. I am so glad God is providing for you in such loving ways from those around you. That is so encouraging. God has blessed us in many ways at this time and I am so thankful. You are right Marilyn, Everything in heaven and earth belongs to our Lord. Good reminder. Please keep lifting my family up in prayer. We are getting ready to put our house on the market, and this is a very emotional time for us. Hopefully my husband will be blessed with a new job and perhaps we won’t have to sell.

Thanks Gail for your inspiring devotions. I feel God speaking to me through your words. They always give me comfort and peace.

  • Andi says:

Good to hear from you Cathy. I knew you were out there somewhere & I’ve wondered about your situation. We didn’t get our place sold. The one offer fell thru. I still believe we should sell but Andy, my husband, is letting his ‘feelings’ over-ride and wants to keep this old house. LOL and driving me nuts as I wait for us to return to consensus; until then we stay and I pray Andy is right. So now both husbands need a good paying job so neither of us need to move. Will keep praying for you [have your name on my computer screen as a reminder].

  • cathy says:

Thanks Andi, Will pray for you and your husband as well. I will pray that God makes it very clear to you both what direction you should take in regards to your home and that the right position opens up for your husband. God Bless

  • Marilyn says:

Praying for you, dear sisters . . .

Precious Lord, it is such a privilege to pray for our sisters here, and we thank You that Your answers are already on the way! As many of us face difficult decisions, new directions, or unexpected challenges, You have gone before us, and Your light shows us the way! Help us to trust You for unseen paths, knowing that You will guide us according to Your grace and lovingkindness! Hold us close, Lord, when we need the gentle reassurance of Your faithfulness and steadfast love! For annah, we praise You for joining her in her trial and using Your Word to strengthen and encourage her! For Kathy, Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and direction, as she prepares to make a decision that has burdened her heart! Surround her, Lord, with sound counsel and guide her according to Your knowledge and will. Grant her peace, then, that she may trust You for the outcome. For Andi and her husband, Lord, we praise You for Your continued blessings and provision during this time of unemployment! May it please You, Lord, to bring a new job opportunity for Andy, and ease the burden of financial uncertainty for them. For life-renewed, we praise You, Lord, for Your grace in returning her husband to work, and we thank You for Your faithfulness to them during his lay-off! And for Cathy, Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention in providing local employment for her husband, that they would be able to stay in their home! Lord, You know how precious friendships are, how their roots run deep, and how the security of familiar surroundings is a comfort in challenging times. May it be pleasing to You, Lord, to bless Cathy’s dear family with a new job for her husband, that they would be able to stay in their home. May they trust You, Lord, for their future, if You choose, instead, to start them on a new adventure! Thank You, Lord, that in all these praises and petitions, You are faithful and true, worthy of all glory, laud and honor! In the matchless Name of Jesus, Amen!

  • Cathy says:

Thanks Marilyn and for everyone’s prayer.

Andi, That is wonderful that your husband will be working at least part-time. Praise the Lord.

  • Andi says:

Blessings to all for prayers lifted up on behalf of all of us and for encouragement and the sense of care that has come thru to us all thru this devotion.
