She’s Got Talent – Susan Boyle

Written by Wes Bowers

susan-mic2Do your only fans consist of your Mom and your cat? Have you felt like life has passed you by?  Take a lesson from Susan Boyle.  Just last week she was an unknown woman living in a quiet village.  Today she is an internet sensation – for all the best reasons.

When Susan Boyle took the stage on Britain’s Got Talent, no one expected much.  But when she opened her mouth to sing, something magical happened. Take a look at her performance from YouTube that has everyone talking.

It can seem like only the young and the beautiful are deemed worthy to experience the opportunities of a lifetime, but Boyle challenges that. There is something beautiful inside every person.   There is something beautiful inside of you, waiting to be revealed to those around you.

Isn’t inner beauty more to be desired than the outward appearance? There is a verse in the Bible that says,  “your beauty should consist of your true inner self, the ageless beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of the greatest value in God’s sight.” I Peter 3:4.

Watch the video clip first, and then read the comments below
of some of the people who have responded to Susan Boyle’s inner beauty.   Determine to reveal your own inner beauty as a way to bless others. Who knows – maybe your inner beauty will bring a tear to our eyes, just like Susan did.

In our pop-minded culture so slavishly obsessed with packaging — the right face, the right clothes, the right attitudes, the right Facebook posts — the unpackaged artistic power of the unstyled, un-hip, un-kissed Ms. Boyle let me feel, for the duration of one blazing show-stopping ballad, the meaning of human grace. She pierced my defenses. She reordered the measure of beauty. And I had no idea until tears sprang how desperately I need that corrective from time to time. – yooooo2b

I watched this many times now since first watching the video this morning. It brings tears to my eyes as well. The song was so moving and beautifully performed. In my opinion, this is more proof of how we shouldn’t be judging “books by their covers”. God sees our hearts. How wonderful that Susan felt she possessed a talent and was willing to boldly put it to the test. I would love to hear her perform! When can I buy tickets!!! :) – skimncereal7

I am a cynical old goat, but this was very very inspiring…she made my day – m4assaultcorps

Get the lady a record and let me know where I can buy it. She is the best I’ve ever seen. I cry every time I watch this. I am a 47 year old woman, too, still hoping to fulfill my dream. I guess I can relate. – KathleenKarlsen

Singer Elaine Paige has paid tribute to Susan Boyle, the Britain’s Got Talent contestant turned global phenomenon.

“It seems her performance has really captured the hearts of everyone who saw it, me included,” said the star.

Boyle, a 47-year-old from West Lothian in Scotland, spoke of Paige prior to her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables on the ITV1 show.

Paige, 60, has now returned the favour, describing Boyle as “a role model for everyone who has a dream”.

“Ever since Susan’s appearance on Britain’s Got Talent my inbox has been flooded with e-mails,” said the actress on her BBC Radio Two show on Sunday afternoon.

“Perhaps we should record a duet?” she continued.

“I will continue to watch and I hope you make it to the final,” she told Boyle. “I wish you every success.”

AFTER I was blown away by Susan’s talent, and AFTER my eyes teared up at her incredible voice, I was so humbled by her own humility, to sing like that and then just quietly walk off the stage, assuming nothing more was coming her way! This is true humility and has taught me a great lesson.

I find it fascinating why we are so surprised that Susan has a beautiful voice…will we never learn? Remember Paul Potts from a previous season of Britain’s Got Talent? Same thing…amazing voice in plain packaging! Talent is not reserved only for beautiful-on-the-outside people…though the media likes to tell us otherwise.

  • she was amazing! cheers from the UK. We got some talent. :)

They should have just ended the contest right there and declared her the winner! I’ve never seen the show but she definately deserves the win. What a great voice! Best of luck to you Susan!

I think Susan Boyle has an amazing voice and by being on Britain’s Got Talent she challenges us to not be so cynical and judgmental towards each other. Her voice gave me goose pimples and if she were to have a concert, I would be there in a heart beat!
