There has been plenty of controversy surrounding Miss California Carrie Prejean in the past few weeks. Her comments on gay marriage at the recent Miss USA pageant incensed judge Perez Hilton, leading to a battle of words in the media. Is there an appropriate time and place for exercising free speech? Should Prejean be stripped of her title because of her comments?
Do you think Prejean should loose her title or be rewarded for speaking out? We want to hear from you.

That this is a free speech issue is a little bewildering to me. First of all, the Miss America Pageant is, as far as I understand it, not a public space, but a private one. They can set their own rules. And we can approve or disapprove, and register that approval or disapproval by watching or not watching, buying or not buying.
Secondly, if she had said, “My religion teaches that marriage should be between men and women of the same race,” would people be talking about free speech? Or would everyone be as incensed at her comments as I am?
