Thanks for this devotional. This passage has been coming up a lot for me these past two months. I am a missionary and our family has been beset by cancers, death and aging and we have,at times, been overwhelmed by it and whether we need to return home. This passage has reminded me to keep waiting on God’s timing and he will answer the question but for now stay the course and continue the work to which he has called us. Thank you.

Thank you Suzanne, I love receiving the devotionals. I am a mom of 4-teens, and 1-8yr old. To answer the question. God has helped me to wait him with my children coming to him. Helping me to see that he is already working in their lives. I am constantly butting heads with my teens, especially with my son. He doesn’t have his dad in his life as much as he would like without having to live with him. And he doesn’t want to live with him. He is hurting, and takes that out on disrespecting me and other women of authority in his life. He’s not a bad kid, he just can make bad choices. Just recently have I really enforced and been consistent with his consequences, so that has really made some waves. I haven’t back down from the 2-weeks restriction I have recently gave him and he tries so hard to get me to but I am staying strong in the Lord. And I look to his promise for my children in (Jeremiah 29:11) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. A friend of mine said that we should wash our hands of our children when they will not submit to us and give them over to the Lord but I think that is when they need you the most to help guide them. In God’s word it tells me in (Proverbs 22:6) Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Thank you God that you gave us pacifiers of your truth to sustain us in the spiritual battles we face with everday life. In Jesus Name, Amen.

What a beautiful reminder, Suzanne, of God’s faithfulness, even when it may appear that He is disengaged with our crumbling world! He is sovereign, the Most High God, and nothing happens apart from His divine consent! We can trust Him that, though our lives are filled with trouble and the future can seem ominous, He is our refuge, our strong tower, to Whom we can run and be safe! (Proverbs 18:10) Though evil persists, even proliferating in these endtimes, we know that God will exact payment for man’s rebellion, and those not covered by the blood of The Lamb will reap the penalties of their sin. Knowing that He is the Author of my life, that He ordains both the blessings and the trials, gives me the faith to believe Romans 8:28 when it says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” And so, when I am called to wait upon Him during a trial and/or difficult assignment, He gives me hope and contentment! Amen and amen!

Thanks Suzanne for the Great Devotional and I am sure there are a lot of Christians who think about this often. I remember really struggling with this when I lost my 15 1/2 yr. old daughter in a car accident as I am sure many many other Christians do whether it be a child, spouse, parent or friend. But like you always seem to hear and it was so true with Lee-Anna she so Loved the Lord, she used to write letters to Jesus to pray for people, she continually smiled and whenever she wrote a note she would always write at the bottom “Keep Smiling For Jesus” So My Question Was WHY Did God have to take her??? Why not some kid that was always causing trouble, being a nuisance to his parents and society ??? We have all seen it again and again it is always the good kids that die in the car accidents or whatever and why??? But the I came to realize that God was in Control, That was Lee-Anna’s time to go and I truly believe by her going to be with Jesus she has touched more lives than I could have ever imagined. God new before she was born the day she would die and that was her day, there are no accidents with God, He never say whoops that one wasn’t suppose to die today. No He and He Alone is in Total Control of Our Lives and if we can accept that when a untimely death does happen even though it won’t take the hurt and sorrow away, deep down it will one day give us some assemblance of peace. I believe that we have to apply that in every area of our life believing God is in Control. I believe that Nothing Good or Bad doesn’t happen to us that He first doesn’t allow, So like the old hymn goes we have to “Lean on Jesus” and know He is in Control of My Life! Hugs Linda !!!
