His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5).

Read: John 2:1-11

The guests were seated in the sanctuary at my niece’s wedding, but her parents paced in the lobby. Where is the caterer? They wondered. Finally, the caterer rushed in with armloads of food, and the bride’s parents sighed with relief. The wedding march began, and the radiant bride and her father walked down the aisle.

After the recessional, I was among the first ushered into the reception hall where I saw empty buffet tables. I hurried into the kitchen and found a harried caterer stuffing deviled eggs. Much of the food wasn’t ready! The church ladies and I quickly helped as directed, and soon the tables were laden with gourmet appetizers, breads, and sweets. The guests raved about the wonderful reception, unaware of the chaos behind the scene.

In John 2, we read about another wedding mishap. In Cana of Galilee, the wine supply ran out, a serious matter in those days. Jesus’ mother knew her Son could solve the problem and asked Him for help. Then she told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

The Lord’s instructions probably seemed strange to the servants, but they filled six large stone jars with water and then brought the chief steward a sample. When he tasted the water-turned-to-wine, he marveled to the bridegroom, “You have kept the good wine until now” (v. 10).

Just as Jesus, the Living Water, has the power to change water into wine, He has the power to transform any crisis we face. We only need to ask for His help, then do what He says. The outcome may surprise us!

Heavenly Father, help me to instinctively bring You my problems. Then give me an obedient heart to do what You say, knowing You’ll work for my good.

Questions: Have you faced a chaotic situation where Jesus showed up big time when you asked Him for help? What would you like Jesus to do for you but hesitate to ask? Why?

yes, as recent as a few months back, I was brought into a situation with a sibling who was having a major panic attack. I had not seen the severity of what an attack like this does to the body. I was called to the situation because I was strong, strong to the other siblings. when the paramedics arrived, i stepped aside to let them do their thing and I, mine. I prayed to Jesus right then and asked that He allow my sibling to get through this attack. My sibling did eventually but not after a very very long stay in emergency. I didn’t know what to do medically for my sibling but I knew the only thing to do was to trust, hope and keep on praying.
One thing I would like to ask Jesus but of course will not is: ”could you Jesus give me a little more time here in this earthly flesh?” And why will I not ask? Because when I am called, ready or not, I am called. There is so much needed to be done, so many people to help. I haven’t given back near enough.

Lord, nothing is too difficult for You. Draw near to Ashley, reassure her as she prays and waits on You, and reveal your plan day by day. Bring godly advisers into her life. Today, give her a divine hug and give her hope. In Jesus’ strong and powerful name, amen.

Don’t become discouraged or give up. God loves you and has a plan for you. (Jeremiah 29:11)

I did not hesitate to ask but I have not received an answer yet. Does he hear me and where is he? I have never faced a mountain like this before and do not know what to do??/

I needed to read this today. Many times as I stand before the people preaching the word of God someone from the congregation will say God send that word to me because I needed to hear just that, and I think to myself if only I could share with you about my pain and problems in my life right now! I have learned that I can give everything that concerns me and God hears me and helps me to stand before the people and proclaim with a loud voice that He is God! Thanks again for giving me this word this morning.
