Is God answering your prayers? Would you like to talk to someone about that?

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6, NIV).
I’ve prayed for my friend for over ten years. Although we’ve had many interesting discussions about God, she seems to be no closer to accepting Jesus personally. Sometimes it seems like praying does no good.
Do you ever feel like that?
Prayer may seem so futile, but we must remember to Whom we are praying. We are praying to a God who understands the depth of personality. His Holy Spirit is working in the unconscious domain of the person’s being which, of course, we know nothing about. There is a gestation period, if you like, before there can be a new birth.
Sometimes, when I’m tempted to despair over a person, I remember my Uncle Henry. At one time, he was totally against anything Christian. He did everything in his power to discourage us from going to church. He mocked us for reading the Bible. He tried to trip us up by putting temptation in our way.
We prayed for him, off and on, for over thirty years.
In time I noticed a softening in Uncle Henry’s attitude: he began to listen to gospel programs on the radio. Then one day he told me the following story: “At night, I was coughing up blood and I was sure the end had come. And I was scared. ‘God, save me, I cried.’ I can’t tell you exactly what happened, but He came to me. I’m no longer afraid.”
From then on, Uncle Henry was like a man who couldn’t get enough of Bible reading and prayer. He was a man reborn by the Spirit of God.
Are you on the verge of giving up praying for a friend or loved one? Don’t give up. You may be closer to the answer than you realize.
Father, you are still seeking and saving the lost. Help me to be faithful in praying for my family and friends. Amen.
Questions: Are you discouraged and ready to give up praying for someone? How do we know that God hears our prayers when we pray for someone’s salvation?

i am praying for you and your children for peace and for the abuse to stop
Father God, we praise You for You are our El Roi, the God Who Sees! Your Word assures us that Your eyes are ever upon us, and Your ears are attentive to our prayers! (Ps 34:15; 1 Peter 3:12) We know that You hate evil, Lord, and You grieve deeply over the suffering of Your children; yet, we know that in this world there will be trouble for us (John 16:33.) Thank You, Lord, that You have offered us peace that transcends understanding, the peace that only comes from Your Spirit in us! We lift up our sister here, unknown to us, but fully known to You, Lord! You see her hurt, Lord, and know the discouraging circumstances in which she and her precious children live. Grant her Your comforting peace, we pray, as she holds onto Your promise of all-sufficient grace! (2 Corinthians 12:9) Protect them, Lord, from words of destruction, and remind them of their infinite worth to You! May the heart of their abuser be broken, that You might empty it of it’s bitterness and transform their home by Your redeeming power! May Your wisdom and guidance direct this dear woman’s steps, and may Your peace pour over her like a warm bath! In the precious, holy Name of Jesus, Amen!
Please pray for my children and I to have peace in our lives. We have been living with verbal abuse for over 6 years. I pray every day and I’m beginning to lose faith. Please pray for us that we may have peace some day soon.
No, dear kanj, it is God Who is awesome!! That He has used me to be an encouragement to you is a great blessing to me! I praise Him for His goodness to us! And remember, my friend, He knows the depth of love you have for your children — as He has entrusted their training to you, you can entrust their salvation to Him! God bless!

i will be praying for your children and for your husband. it was a great day of joy when my two adult children redecaited their lives to The Lord and i know your children will come to Him too. now i still pray for my daughterin law
I join you, Cathy, in lifting up our sweet sisters Ria and Misti, as well as Faithfulphish and sharon b, and the burdens of their hearts!
Precious Lord, we praise You that Your Word teaches us that You hear our prayers, our cries for mercy, and You will answer. You do not slumber nor sleep (Ps 121:4), and Your eyes are ever upon us and Your ears are attentive to our cries. (Ps 34:15) Thank You, Lord, that while we wait upon You for answers, You are faithful, and time is not wasted by You! For dear Ria, Lord, we ask for deliverance for her husband from the bondage of alcoholism! Grant Him Your grace that he would have the strength to resist this stronghold. Break those shackles, Lord, and set him free, we pray! For Ria, we ask for Your wisdom and direction, and Your comfort as she grieves over her husband’s self-destructive path and seeks Your divine intervention. For Misti, Lord, we ask for Your lovingcare and encouragement! We ask for Your healing mercies to ease her migraines and bring her afflicted body back to wholeness! Help her, Lord, to trust in You during her times in the valley, for Your Word tells us, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8) Surround her, Lord, with Your Presence and peace, that she might be reassured! For Faithfulphish and sharon b, we ask for Your mercy in tenderizing the hearts of their unbelieving family members, that they would acknowledge their sin and seek Your forgiveness and gift of salvation! May these beloved family members see the joy of salvation so vividly expressed by Faithfulphish and sharon b, that they will be drawn to the Light that shines from them and through them! In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen!
Sweet sister kanj, I notice you said “life-threatening,” not “life-ending.” It is no small thing that our awesome God brought you through such a crisis, knowing that He would save you, be your Divine Rescuer, Redeemer! And, dear one, as His precious child, when you walk in His will, He will sustain you through various other trials the remainder of your days on earth, using you to bring Him glory by your testimony of His faithfulness and abiding love! 1 Peter 4:12-13 tells us, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed.” Whatever your trial may be, kanj, whether it be a physical affliction, persecution, financial strain, family conflict, whatever — stay focused on your Savior, and know that He stands with you — before you, beside you, behind you! The apostle Paul asked the Lord to remove the thorn in his flesh three times, but God told him that “My grace is sufficient for you.” This may explain the “warmth and a glow” that you felt that day — and though you may not have had the strength to “cry out to Him that day,” the Holy Spirit intercedes for us when our hearts are overwhelmed. You can be sure, kanj, that God has used all the events of your life, be they positive or negative, to shape your character and to strengthen you for His purposes! As for your “block,” perhaps you are just experiencing a dry spell, one in which you need to be ministered to, and encouraged along the path! We all go through times like that, dear one! Let the body of Christ pray for and care for you during this ‘down time,’ and know that God has not gone anywhere. Sometimes, He needs to quiet us for a time. Rest in His love, sweet sister, and trust in His provision!
Glorious God, we praise You for Your faithfulness and awesome care! Though we may sometimes feel disconnected from You, we thank You that You are there, that You have not left us! We thank You for Your Holy Spirit, Who lovingly watched over us during the days before we came to know You, using our lives as a patchwork quilt to prepare us for adoption into Your family! We pray for kanj, asking for Your tender care and encouragement during this time of confusion/doubt. Reassure her, Lord, of Your love, and bring sisters-in-Christ along to minister to her and share her burdens. We pray, also, for kanj’s children, that You would open their eyes and ears to Your truth, and quicken their hearts towards You! We ask these things in the mighty Name of Jesus, Amen!
Marilyn, can God’s preparation come in the form of a very life threatening trial? The events and experiences I had gone through right up to the very day that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior were just that, life threatening. I did not cry out to Jesus that day yet I felt a warmth and a glow that I had never experienced in my life. I accepted the Lord and now two and a half years later I am feeling lost once again. I have not wavered away from God, no! I just don’t know why the ‘block’ is there.
And yes, you were very helpful, very kind. God bless
Hi kanj! If I may, perhaps I can explain what I believe Helen was refering to. Before a new believer actually experiences a ‘new birth,’ or spiritual awakening/regeneration, God has already been at work in his/her life, preparing the soil of his/her heart to be fertile. In other words, events and experiences in that person’s life are all being used by God to bring him/her to the place where he/she will eventually recognize his/her need for a Savior, and will receive God’s gift of salvation. This period of time when God is working ‘behind the scenes’, could be considered our spiritual ‘gestation’ period. Just like a seed, which is planted in the ground, does not spring forth from the soil until transformation and growth has already begun beneath the surface, God is slowly, meticulously, moving the hearts of those, whom He calls, in the direction of salvation. Hope this helps! God bless!
Helen, could you please dwell a little further on ”gestation period before there can be a new birth”. I feel you may have touched on something that I am currently experiencing.
Thank you.
I pray that my two adult children will one day accept Jesus Christ fully into their lives. It makes me sad to think that we will all not be united in end times. My husband is a Christian but his degree of his faith and mine are on two slightly different paths. Only God knows where our destinations lay.
The Lord does answer prayers and we must wait, learn to wait and listen.
I continue to life up my husband in prayer that he will one day accept the Lord as his father and come to know Jesus Christ. That will be one party in heaven!
i have been praying for my daughter-inlaw for years and am still praying and will keep praying God does answer prayers i know this is true
I will pray for you both, Ria and Misti. It is hard for me as well. I see God answering some prayers whileother prayers seem to go unanswered. Because God does answer some of the time, I do have faith that he hears me. Somes when I think about the prayers he has not answered, even though it is not the answer I was looking for, I do see progress, or change, even if it is just in my attitude.
I lift up Misti and Ria today Lord. You know the prayers of their hearts. Please work in their livesin a mighty way Lord. Help their faith to continue to increase. Amen
I feel like god is not listening to me or family. I have had horrible migraines since High School and I’m 35 now and nothing has changed. The doctor’s are running out of things to do. I am a good Christian person. Why isn’t he listening to me and my families plea for help. I have to lay in a dark room until it goes away. I have them at least once a week if not more. My child hood was not easy with migraines starting in High School on top of eplipsey. I even had to have a emergency hystercomy and tons of other surgeries at my age. I feel kind of alone right now. Please Pray for me and family that we get through this trying time.
Thanks,
Misti and Andy Wieck/family
I have a daily request before The Lord, that my husband will be delivered from alcoholism. He is really a good hearted man, but I see the drinking getting in the way of alot things. At times I get so discouraged and want to stop praying for him and just walk away. I have faith that one day he will be completely delivered from this disease.
I’m requesting prayers for myself to be strong.
Thanks
