“If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent” (Psalm 91:9, 10).
Imagine making the Most High your dwelling place; to be at home, at rest in God; to daily live in His presence.
It isn’t that sadness or pain will never touch you, but that you have a security in Christ that cannot be stolen.
In the book of John, Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my hand” (John 10: 28, 29).
The promise of peace and safety beckons us, but how do we make the Most High our dwelling?
It begins with desire – a desire that God Himself put inside of us – the desire to know Him. Then we put it into action:
“Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
“Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only” (Deuteronomy 6:13).
As we earnestly seek after God, He reveals Himself to us. Gradually we begin to understand that He is the only source of rest and hope and joy.
Most High God, I want to make You my dwelling place. Thank you for promising that, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) I want to live daily in Your presence, free from fear and perfectly at peace. Help me to seek You with all my heart, soul and strength.
Questions: How are you seeking God? Where has your heart been residing? What do you need to do to make the Most High your dwelling place?
