He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned”‘ (Mark 16:15-16).
Our Lord commanded that we give attention to the world – to the hurting, the fearful, and the hopeless. Instead, many churches spend a high percentage of their time and resources on their own congregation’s needs. We who make up God’s body must align our thoughts with His and return to the church’s primary mission: proclaiming the truth about the grave danger facing mankind and about Jesus, the only One who can rescue them.

The church has been given the charge to demonstrate before an unbelieving world why the heavenly Father sent His Son to earth: to reveal through Christ’s life who God is, and to accomplish by means of His death the reconciliation of sinful man to God. Everything else we talk about – baptism, discipleship, giving, and righteous living – are extensions of the Gospel but not the heart of it.
No other “word” is needed because the good news about the Savior is sufficient. It relates to every maturity level, need, and season of life. It contains simple truths that the youngest or most uneducated can understand, and it is superior to all other philosophies and religions. Every promise God made is fulfilled through the person of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 1:20) Finally, the Gospel’s words are absolutely sure. Its eternal truths need no correction, never change, and lead to salvation through faith in Jesus.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you – as a “living stone” of the church – to examine what message your life and words proclaim. Only the Gospel of Christ saves.

until I fully forgive mlyself, then I am the ‘hurting’ person. it’s my life that I choose or choose NOT to give His attention to.
the most important thing I can do for someone is the same thoughts as Sharon b–talk about God and what He’s done in your life, talk about God and what He does by being a part of your life.
that’s a gift we can keep forever in our hearts.
Sister Linda R, thank you so much for that fervent prayer, it meant so much to me. Those who are in education, know some of the challenges. Anyway, God bless all of you & may we feel His Presence upon us today.
I think the most important thing you can do for a perso is pray and tell them about The Lord
Loving Heavenly Father I bring Em before You asking Lord that You would be with her right now as she is at work in her new job teaching. Jesus I pray that You would protect her from any corruption, manipulation, distortion or unfair treatment towards her. Please fill her full and overflowing with Your Wisdom, Grace, Love, Joy and Peace. Keep her from negative thoughts or feeling discouraged but just help her to Totally Lean on You and remember to “Keep Her Eyes On Jesus”. Also Lord don’t ever let her forget that Great is He that is within you than he that is within the world! I just commit Em to You now and pray all these things in Faith Believing, Amen! Hugs, Linda!!!
Please lift up a prayer for me. I just began a new job (first-year teacher) in nyc (my hometown). It’s a long story, but I am not sure about some of the ‘politics’ (which, I know is in every situation for the most part), but I am trying not to be discouraged. I have no idea why God let me be here (& I had some thoughts about career-changing down the line even before going into this). I heard some things about the administration, and that sometimes they might make it hard to leave. I don’t want to get into details so pls pray for protection from corruption, manipulation, distortion, etc. They already made a mistake in my salary, etc. Anyway, I am not trying to veer off-topic, but the message is about being ‘light.’ I think I am in one of the more challenging places to work, and I really need an extra dose of God’s Grace, Wisdom, Protection to help me navigate through & not be defeated or discouraged. Pray for strength that I also may do what I’m supposed to with my very life, and that God would help me thru it. Thank you so much for listening/ praying. Thanks also for sharing.
I was happy to see Dr. Stanley share what the true mission of the church is: “We who make up God’s body must align our thoughts with His and return to the church’s primary mission: proclaiming the truth about the grave danger facing mankind and about Jesus, the only One who can rescue them.” Do we really care that those around us who don’t know Christ are in grave danger? And as Dr. Stanley pointed out, this can be out of balance with many churches spending their time and resources on their own needs to the neglect of what our true mission really is. Jesus is faithful so we too need to be faithful to share the bad news and the good news. And finally as the devotional said: “The Gospel’s words are absolutely sure. Its eternal truths need no correction, never change, and lead to salvation through faith in Jesus. I found this devotional challenging and a good wake up call for us all as believers.
I don’t think the question is, not is there a hurting person in our life but who is the hurting person or people as we all have them if we open our eyes and are willing and available to be used of God. First we need to pray for them, daily not just once. Second be there for them not just once but when they need us. Far too often someone goes through a crises example looses a loved one and everyone is there for the first week or two then they are left alone. Life goes on for everyone else but not for the person who has lost the loved one or gone through whatever crisis it might have been. A good example is Danielle just above who is recently separate from her husband and needs “Our” prayers not just today but everyday for the next year or more. God has called us to pray for one another and I think this site gives us a wonderful opportunity to write down peoples names even though we might not know them personally and pray for them day after day.
Dear Heavenly Father I bring Danielle to You right now. Jesus I just ask that You would draw her unto You. That she would come to love and know You as her personal Lord and Savior and allow You to be Lord of her Life. Lovingly wrap Your arms ever so tightly around her, fill her to overflowing with You Peace, Love, Joy and Encouragement. Lord I also pray that you would restore her marriage and bring her husband to also know You as his Lord and Savior. Please be with Lynne at this time, encourage her and give her wisdom and direction on how to deal with this situation. Also please be with the children and help them to know that they are loved very much and not feel left out in any way. I just commit them all to You and Thank You In Advance In Faith Believing Amen & Amen!!!
Hugs, Linda
my daughter danielle is trying to have faith, her and her husband have recently separated and i come from mississippi to help with my grandchildren. danielle is distraught and falling into depression. please pray all you saints that read this that her marriage will be restored and that she can have the faith to receive all that God has for her. thanks and i love yall in Christ
God bless you, Fiona! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you continue your journey in Christ! :)
In my opinion, Christ only asked two things of us: to love each other, and to believe in Him. It makes me sick when I see huge churches being built when there are people starving on the street.
I am part of a wonderful Catholic hospital (although I myself am a little Protestant girl LoL) that has great core values and a wonderful mission. Everyday I give back to my Savior by serving others. I love what I do, and I try my best to let my shine and practice my two tasks given to me by my Father in Heaven.
I am a born again christian and just started attending church 2 years ago after I got saved and baptized. My heart is for the homeless and destitute out there who does’nt get a word from God,because our people look at them snobbish if they enter a church. From now on my heart is set to go out and make disciples and tell people there is someone out there that cares about them and their needs. He is our restorer, healer and provider. God will look after us if we humble ourselves and look after the homeless and sick people. They can be healed by the word of God.Amen
