Are you feeling emotionally fragmented today? Talk to us.
“Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).
Sometimes, as believers, we can find ourselves being dragged around by our emotions rather than allowing the Spirit of God to lead us through our days.
How does one practically apply steps so as not to be caught on an emotional rollercoaster today?
* Pay attention to what is going on in your heart and mind.
* Acknowledge your emotions.
* Look at the circumstances or the reasons causing your emotion.
If there is something you can physically do to help your situation, then ask for God’s help and do it. If there is nothing you can actually do about your situation, tell God you will trust Him to be your strength and your supplier. Ask Him to give you peace in your heart and direction in your steps. Every weakness you have is an opportunity for God to show His strength in your life.
Today let your emotions be a guide, or a tool, to push you back to your God and His strength in your times of weakness. Catch the downward spiral before you get caught in it. Ask His Spirit to guide you to solutions, wisdom, insight, help and strength.
If you are at the bottom of the spiral, tell God you need His help to get up. Ask for His strength to fill your weakness. If you need to talk to a trusted friend to find help and counsel in the journey, then make that call for help. God wants His children to be led by His Spirit, not dragged by their emotions.

Father God, I thank You that You are there to help me in every step I take throughout this day. I offer my emotions to You and I ask for Your help in managing them and in seeing them as a tool to help me understand what is going on in my heart. I declare that I want to be led by Your Holy Spirit and not tossed about by emotion. Give me understanding and Your help as I keep my heart and mind guarded today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Questions: How are emotions a gift? How can they become a stumbling block? Where do you feel needy today, and how can we pray for you?

This was a lesson that came in God’s perfect timing for me. Even though I had already been drug down into the bottom of the spiral by my emotions, this lesson helped lift me back up. Thank You!!! I still have some “coming back” to do but, I know Our Lord will restore!
Like a butterfly breaking free from it’s cocoon, I’ll will forever be “Becoming”….a better, stronger person for the trials I’ve been thru. Not because of anything I’ve done, but because of what He does in me….I will forever be a “Work in Progress”. Until the day He calls me home, He will be molding & shaping me to be more like Him. And, He will always be doing it for all of you too.
This is SO good and is what I need to pray to learn in my life too. Thank you so much for sharing this very important truth. Jesus, have YOUR way! :)
I will use this topic during my first fellowship meeting with the sisters at church. I feel encouraged to study more on the topic and will definitely share what I learn. Thanks!
Thank you for this lesson which is what I need to help me as I pray for healing from hurts and recover from associated pains.
I recognize I am near the bottom of the spiral and am asking God’s help to arise in His strength. I am also asking for your prayers, as well.
Praying that we all will yield to the leading of the Spirit in this upcoming Holy Day season. God Bless.
I especially liked the sentence, “Every weakness you have is an opportunity for God to show His strength in your life.”
I’m writing this one in my journal. I had never thought of my emotions as being a weakness. Thank you for showing me how to use them as a tool to use when I need to get back under God’s umbrella. At this time of year our emotions can run with us in the business of the holiday season.
I pray each of us will be led by the Holy Spirit in the upcoming weeks as we celebrate Christ’s birth.
I loved this devotional… I am going to memorize this line: “God wants His children to be led by His Spirit, not dragged by their emotions.”
Have a beautiful day, and may the Holy Spirit guide you and yours each and every day of the year.
