"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
Focusing on prayer for the domains of society.
“Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you” (Jeremiah 7:27 NKJV).
God told Jeremiah right up front, that in spite of him being obedient and declaring the Word of God to Israel, they would not listen. Jeremiah must have wondered what the point of speaking was if no one was going to listen anyway. Do you ever feel like that, like you have been obedient to what God has asked you to do and yet there seems to be no response or visible outcome? You have put yourself out, taken a risk, maybe even looked a little foolish, and nobody takes any notice or shows any signs of interest in God? It can make you feel like just throwing up your hands and thinking “what’s the use in trying, nobody cares?”
Here at Power to Change we have a saying, ‘Share your faith in the power of the Holy Spirit and leave the results with God.’ It is good for us to remember that our part is to obey and witness through words and demonstration, God is the one who does the saving. If we don’t speak it or live it, then others can’t see or hear it. Once they have heard it, whether they respond or not, the gospel has gone out to them and they are responsible for what they have heard. Simply put, if I can answer “yes” to the question “did I do what God asked me to do?” Then His answer to me is “Well done good and faithful servant,” regardless of what the outcome looks like to us.
“Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord and My work with my God” (Isaiah 49:4 NKJV).
“Yet if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul” (Ezekiel 3:19 NKJV).
