“And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, ‘Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst’” (Exodus 17:3, NKJV).
God had brought the people of Israel out of Egypt with many signs and wonders. They had witnessed the power of God in the plagues He brought on Egypt, were blessed with unexpected riches of silver and gold from their Egyptian neighbors. They experienced His protection as He provided them with a cloud and a pillar of fire to guide them, shade them, and keep them warm at night, and daily received manna from heaven. But now, there was no water, and all these things were forgotten as they complained bitterly and were threatening to stone Moses.
Recently I have found myself moaning to God about what I didn’t see, about the prayers that hadn’t been answered and the desires that hadn’t been granted. As I became aware of my faithless attitude, I had to marvel at how quickly I lost sight of all that God has done for me, and all the amazing blessings that God surrounds me with daily. I found myself with the same attitude that the Israelites were in, and I had to repent.
Ingratitude and thanklessness are some of the very things that cut us off from God’s blessings. When we focus on what we do have and continue in joy, praise, and thanks to God, we will see the other things come into place in their time. Our father takes great pleasure in giving us good gifts and we can live in joy and trust Him to provide everything we need in exactly the right time.
”Blessed be the Lord who daily loads us with benefits. You crown the year with your goodness and Your paths drip with abundance. If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Do not fear little flock, for it is your father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Ps. 68:19, 65:11, Matt. 7:11, Luke 12:32, NKJV).
Questions: Are you wondering right now if God is listening to you? What are some of the reasons that we feel so far from God? What should be our first step to get back close to Him?

This is a great devotional. I say that everyday-lol, because it’s always true. Each reading TRULY speaks to my heart. I am at a place where I REALLY need the Lord and need to turn my attention to HIM to be at peace and walk this walk. May everyone have a blessed day, and blessed days with God, ahead.
We sometimes feel far from God because we are so caught up with distractions like work and programmes and countless activities. These pull us away from the voice of God. We become and drift further from Him till a wake up call comes and we come back to God. It is not something that can be solved in a day or two, but through consistent spending time with Him that we keep Him in sight. Tough as it may be, but it gives you tremendous peace for the entire day. People can sense the peace too.
It’smy first time online and have a totally different question-Can anoyone help with marital issues?
Hello- I just came in the room
Good reminder to always be thankful. Sometimes I get to focused on what I think I should have or be entitled to and forget to count my blessings.
I just waned to say “thanks” as this is what I needed today! It is easy to forget and put my focus in the wrong direction. God reminds me daily how blessed I am with so many things and how He has answered and met my needs. Usually it is my kids who remind me by just looking into their faces.
I ask that you open a window of light for Kristina Lord, and give her wisdom and guidance during this difficult time. In Your most holy name, Thank you Father. Amen.
Daily reading in His Word and afterwards having prayer time with God helps me feel closer to Him. My day seems to go much better when I am able to have time with Him during the day verses waiting and reading and praying at night . . . although sometimes schedules create the later reading.
Kristina, if your doctor is not covered by your insurance, why don’t you find one who is? Maybe you really want this doctor or else there aren’t any other doctors around. If your doctor is not covered by your insurance talk to the payment person at the office and see if they have any payment plans available.
Father , I lift up Kristina and ask for your guidance. Open the doors for a payment plan with this doctor or close the door shut and guide her to another doctor who is covered by her insurance. I pray for Christian fellowship to encourage her Lord. Thank you and we praise your Holy name. In Christ we pray, amen. Let us know how it goes, kiddo!
Thanks Ria…I do talk to Him throughout the day and also tell Him I want to know Him better and feel close to HIm. I ask Him for guidance but I am still as confused as before I asked Him for guidance. It’s so discouraging. I saw a doctor yesterday and am not sure if I should continue seeing her. She is not covered by insurance. The appointment cost me $375 and the follow-up, currently scheduled for next week, will be $215.
The best thing to do, if you are trying to get closer to God, is to open up your heart to Him, invite in Him in and start a interpersonal relationship with Him. Talk with Him, He listens, Then ask for the guidance you need. I often think I ask God for too much. my prayer requests go on all day long. But the Bible tells us to ask in faith. I know first hand that he can and WILL do more than we can think to ask. I pray Gods will in my life everyday. I hope God grants you the desires of your heart.
God Bless
I know I feel better when I write a gratitude list every day but I am not sure what to do to be closer to God. Right now I really need some guidance from him but I feel I am not getting any.
