Love is patient, love is … controversial?

Written by Darren Hewer

Online, authors can rarely predict what kind of feedback they will receive on their writing. One of the articles on our site, “Help! My Husband Doesn’t Want Sex!“, has quite unexpectedly received well over 200 comments so far!

Another very popular article (that has somewhat taken us by surprise) is “What is true love?” on our student’s site, which has received just over 100 comments … be sure to click “Older Comments” to see the variety of responses.

I guess  it shouldn’t be so surprising. The topic of sex & love is bound to generate controversy, especially among students. But the question remains: What is true love?

One of the most famous comics in the old old comic strip called “Love Is…” contains the caption “Love Is…being able to say you are sorry.” Conversely, the movie Love Story gives us the famous line “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” Hmmm! So which is it? Or is it neither, or both?

In her article, Harriet Sun says: “There are a few things love isn’t. Love isn’t a feeling. Although real love is often accompanied by strong feelings, love does not equate with the sense of floating on clouds. Unlike the type of love that movies, television, and songs portray, people in love don’t always feel ooey gooey around each other.”

Read the article and add your own thoughts: What is true love?
