We don’t know her name.
What we do know is that she was deathly sick. For 12 years, she had a blood problem. She suffered. She spent all she had on physicians “and could not be healed by any. (Luke 8:43)
She was considered unclean. She couldn’t pick her friends. They were picked for her.
When she heard that Jesus was in town, she came from behind Him, and touched the border of His garment, hoping, in waiting and expectation of a miracle!
Something…anything. She was broken. She was in pain.
She took a chance. A leap of faith. A risk. “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
An impossible situation. A persistent and perfect faith.
Friend, that is what God is looking for.
His eyes look to and fro for anyone with faith. Are His eyes stopped on you? Are you a woman of faith?
Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God.
If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, God promises even mountains will move, and nothing will be impossible (Mathew 17:20).
Place your trust in the God of the universe. He is a God of the impossible. He wants to part the waters in your impossible situations. He wants to flow water from a rock in your desert places, and make your cup overflow with abundance of all He is.
And, remember…give glory to God. Jesus asked the crowd, having felt the power that left Him, who it was that touched Him. He already knew. But He wanted to perfect her in faith, for when she stepped out and confessed with her mouth that she had been healed, she was giving Him the glory that He deserves. “She declared Him in the presence of all people the reason she touched Him and how she was healed immediately (Luke 8:47).
That is why we are here! Wait in expectancy, knowing that God will perform the impossible in your life. Declare His name and share with those around you all He has done.
Questions: How does the Bible define faith? How do you interpret what the man said to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief? (Mark 9:24)? How do you respond when God doesn’t answer with a miracle?

i can’t thank you both enough for caring enough. My spiritual ears hear what you are saying and know it to be true. i’m thinking the end of my life is going to be SO much better then the beginning. i used to drink my self into oblivion and God said, “OH no you don’t….this is not My way for you.” so b/c of His tender mercies and grace, He was able to get me the help i needed. Haven’t touched a drink in 3 yrs! it wasn’t the answer and now i still feel the pain and the self pity yet its different now. i pray and fast and help others through the very pits of darkness i went through. The showers of blessings are coming…i can feel them through your words of encouragement! Bless you. ~trisha
Trisha, don’t give up! Trust that God has it all under His control and that He knows the desires of your heart. Believe that He has a season for all things and that your secret desires were placed there by a heavenly Father who loves you beyond anything you can imagine. Above all else know that you are uniquely and wonderfully made and there is a plan for something wonderful to come in your life. May God’s face shine upon you and may He give you His peace.
Doubting God’s love…(?) I am also over 50, and things “are what they are”. When I have given it all (every day) to the Lord, then then it is not only “what it is”, but (and here is the blessing): It is just how God wants it to be. I hope that makes some sense. I will pray for you; blessings… It gets easier as you trust in Him completely. It really really does.
Brigitte, i have faith and like la said, “it lessens the pain when we give it all to HIM”. My problem is “double mindedness”. HIS word says, “the double minded person receives nothing from God.” This scares me b/c i have had this problem for a very long time. i’m thinking this is the reason i DON’T get my prayers answered esp when i love and hate someone at the same time! How do i respond when God DOESN’T respond with a miracle? Initally i feel let down and doubt starts creeping around the corner. Then i know i have to let it go and keep on keeping on. My miracle is always the same… waiting for a Godly relationship with someone who can be trusted…hasn’t happened my whole life and i’m 58 yrs young! i secretly think it’s b/c there are so many ways about me that another person just can’t put up with (im’ glad Jesus loves me unconditionally) i sure wish it was THAT easy to work my way through a crowd and simply ‘touch his garment and then be instantly healed’…. i’ve been holding on so long i’m surprised it’s still attached to HIS body! ~Blessings
Woman of faith…..when i was young i was told by my close friend who is older than me that i must have faith in God no matter what happens. At that time i don’t even bother to understand what having faith in God will cause to my life. Then, as i grow older this word faith becomes very important to my life. So no matter what happen or will happen i always reminded myself that always have faith in Him. Therefore, i strongly believe that my faith in Him will grow stronger each and every year.
Faith (as small as a mustard seed) is all we need, and this is belief. I use to say that things got “easier” as I matured, but as I think it through this morning, I realize that what is happening is my faith is stronger (as I am wiser). Therefore, God has lessened the sting of life. I give Him everything every morning. I’m prepared for God’s plan in every moment. As time goes on, I realize that faith is something we “have” it’s a gift and a choice too…God knows our faith, and He lessens the pain when we give it all to Him. And to Him be the glory.~ Something that I love to do is share w/ others what God does in my life. And when things are so good, I’m quick to tell ppl that it was God’s plan, and not mine. I love doing this. Praise Him. May our faith stay strong, as He fights the battles and protects us!
I feel that i believe GOD.I am not able to understand in what way GOD measures our trust in him.
