Going To See the King

Written by Katherine J. Kehler

What do you crave? This study will help you.

“This same Jesus, who has been taken from you will come back in the same way you have seen Him go” (Acts 1:11).

We were driving through the city. Our son, daughter – in – law and three-year-old granddaughter were with us. To keep my granddaughter occupied, I began to sing to her and she sang back to me.

One of the songs I sang was, “Soon and Very Soon, we are Going to Meet the King. I sang it a few times and she listened carefully, then she looked at me and said, “No, Grandma, we are going to the mall.

Well, at the time we all laughed, but later I thought about what she said. Don’t we as adults often act as if we prefer to go the mall, rather than looking for His return? Are we looking forward to the King’s coming or are we so busy with stuff – running to and fro – that we rarely give a thought that maybe, just maybe, the King is coming back today?

Are you looking forward to seeing Jesus? When was the last time you thought about His return? We get so busy with living here that we forget that we are on earth for a short time compared to eternity.

Are you ready? Are you looking forward to seeing Him?

Father, I am so glad Jesus is returning to earth. Maybe He will come today, maybe tomorrow. Give us gladness of heart and readiness because we know our Lord is coming soon. Amen.

Questions: Are you looking forward to Christ’s coming to earth again? Explain.

This devotional has given much food for thought. I read His Word daily, I read devotionals from this site and other sources daily, and it’s rare that I don’t come across a reminder of Jesus’ return. Although i am retired (husband as well), my days are not long enough. Busy? Oh, there are days where busy makes the head spin and when that happens to me I find I have to stop in my tracks, take a deep breath in of patience and soon I find the peace and serenity that enables me to cope through the situation. But I don’t cope alone. I need the Lord’s hand to guide me.
Am I ready? No. Am I looking forward to seeing Him? Most certainly. I am sad that those who are closest to me do not see God as their life.

I can’t even tell you how excited that I am to feel the real love of Jesus. To be at his feet, to be in His presence. I can’t put it into words. I just know that in that day, I will FEEL what LOVE is… Real unconditional love. Do we ever really feel that on Earth? I don’t think we do. Enjoy the weekend, and on this Memorial Day weekend, I want to thank those who have fought and died in wars for our freedom.
