Struggling in your marriage? Here’s a helpful study.
“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight” (Psalms 119:35).
I recently took an unplanned detour. Stopping to get gas in unfamiliar territory, I found myself on a one way street heading in the opposite direction from where I needed to go. It was rush hour. The intersections were busy with preoccupied drivers, and everyone knew where they were going, except for me. Lane changes were out of the question. A series of wrong turns deepened my plight, and I soon realized there was no getting back to the exact point where I first made the wrong move.
But then I remembered my GPS. Unused and unplugged, it hid beneath the passenger’s seat, just waiting to be asked the question, “How do I get back on the right path?”
Our spiritual lives are similar to this. A few ill advised steps to the right or the left quickly turn into massive detours; unplanned and full of obstacles. But we keep moving, never recognizing how lost we are until we finally stop to look back. We no longer recognize our surroundings. Unintentionally perhaps, but because of our own choices, we left the people who once traveled with us far behind.
But just like the GPS underneath the passenger’s seat, there lies the Bible, just waiting to be asked the question, “How do I get back on the right path?”
My GPS and my Bible only point me in the right direction when I choose to use them. Many might say my Bible is filled with nothing but rules. But I know better. If I follow what it recommends, I will make fewer mistakes. I will hurt less. My family and loved ones will hurt less. My Bible tells me to embrace life; to “go, and sin no more.”
My GPS tells me to make a U-turn. Stop following this path that leads in the opposite direction from where I want to end up. “Turn around when possible,” it cautions repeatedly.
They both recognize the dangers of being lost and alone. Thank goodness.
Dear God, sometime I make the wrong turn. I am slow to realize what happened and why. But I thank you for never giving up on me. I thank you for creating a path just for me that will lead to eternity. I pray that you give me the strength to follow. I thank you for the Bible, our GPS systems, and for each other. All are needed for this journey. In Jesus name, Amen

When we find ourselves lost and going the wrong, how can we find our way back? Pray to God for forgiveness and ask HIM to help you get back on track again….I’ve traveled down some awful, dreadful to say the least roads that led me only to destruction and nearly death…but by the GRACE of GOD I’d come to my senses as I cried out to HIM to rescue me and HELP me out once again….Thank God I am learning how to navigate life a bit batter than in my former years for I seem to be on a much more steadier path now.
I believe I have my own GPS which is God almighty.Whe I use to drive for a living I did not GPS then and could have used it when i toured the country.
In my daily walk with my Lord He is my GPS 24/7 and when I slip He is ther to pick me up.
AMEN!! Unfortunately, but honestly, there have been MORE than a few times that this has happened in my spiritual life, but Jesus is FAITHFUL! Waiting ALL the time to lead me in His everlasting LOVE! All we need is to look unto the Lord! No matter WHERE we are today, He will bring us BACK ON TRACK! Amen!
Wow! Thank you so much! I have often felt like Robin on more than one occasion because I did not acknowledge God for direction–first. However, he so lovingly helps me get back on track because his mercies are new every moorning–Great is thy faithfulness! Now because I have experienced his goodness, it is easy for me to call on him “before” I makes choices.
This message was made just for me. I just got out of a relationship. I prayed for God to reveal to me if he was the one for me. He revealed it in a powerful way. Sometimes we (I) try to do God’s work for him, it won’t work. We (I) try to do things in our time not His. Thank God that the light switch finally flipped up!! God bless…
Each day I study Scripture I learn a little more. Each day that I study His Word, He leaves me with a little something. Eventually I discover that the ‘little somethings’ that He leaves me within are like that of a bread trail in the forest. I can close my Bible today but when I go and open it tomorrow, I find that last ‘little something’ has left it’s mark and is giving me the right direction to continue on.
