Share Jesus with Your Friends
Give a gift that will help touch every person on the planet.
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
Last Saturday I had no idea that God was about to use me, but He did. I often check in to see the comments on our site. This day one comment stood out. It was from a young man named Daniel who said that he was planning to end his life the next day. I paused. It was one of those moments where I wondered if I should get involved. It was late Saturday evening, so I decided I would respond.
I wrote Daniel, challenged him to choose life, talk to someone in his life, gave him a suicide crisis phone number and prayed for him. I prayed for him throughout the evening and then the next morning, I wrote again. I had no idea if I would get a response. Then at noon, his email came. “l know what your saying is true and l’m going to take your advice and choose life,” he wrote.
I am constantly reminded that God is always at work in people’s hearts. I had no idea what that email would bring, but God knew. He choose to include me in His plans and because I said “yes” I got to play a little role in the miracle He was going to do.
The Internet has changed the way we communicate. Videos, pictures, shared links and favorites – this is how the conversation happens now. (We have been shocked at just how effective video is for sharing the Gospel. Listen to what Dr. Guy Saffold had to say about how video will change the way we share the Good News.) You can share Jesus easily, every day by sharing links and forwarding newsletters that link people to mentoring. You don’t need to be a missionary to share Christ. This new language makes it simple for all of us to pass on the message of God’s love.
If you hear God nudging you today to send a link, to write an email, to pick up the phone, don’t ignore that voice. I can tell you from experience that it is an amazing thing to get to join God in the work he is doing. He uses ordinary people just like us every day.
Lord I come to you today. I thank you that you love me and that I can know you personally. I pray that you would help me share your message with people around me. Thank you for the technology and tools that we have such as email and Facebook where we can share with others. I pray that you would give me boldness in sharing stories and links with those in my world so that they might come to know you. Help me get those conversations going or to connect them with a mentor who can help them come to know you. This we pray in your precious name. Amen

What a wonderful idea Cindy. What a blessing you are!!!. My 87 year old mom is in a senior group at a church in her state. The women who is younger, meets with teh seniors once a week. They do a little bible study together, she does some exercise with them, One of the ladies always brings lunch. (that age group love to show off their cooking LOL) and they do an outreach activity. Crocheting prayer shawls, making packages for service people, helping make sets for vacation bible study. My mother loves the group. She grew up in church where bible reading wasn’t always encouraged back then, so she is really enjoying the bible studies, but also the friendships and forming and the feeling of still being useful. Your ministry reminds me of that. There is such a great need to work with our elderly population so thank you for doing what you do.
Dear Karen, Thank you so much for sharing Daniel’s “good news” to proceed on in life. Last week, I too read his comment regarding taking his life and immediatly sent in a response hoping he would read it. I have often treaded the darken path of suicide so I understood where Daniel was coming from…prayed that night that God would keep him safe and bring him the help that he needed. Thanks again for the comfirmation that the Lord moved on his behalf.

God laid it on my heart to send a text message one Wednesday to all my contacts. The message referred to special Christian song that had helped me through a difficult time in my life. The responses to that text blessed me in such an amazing way. Every Wednesday since then I have felt God leading me to send a text of encouragement. I had no idea that God would take that one simple act and make it into a blessing for both the sender and the receivers. Praises to our Heavenly Father!
