The Love of God
Are you in need of true love? Learn how to find true intimacy.
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:9).
God is Love, and to the degree you live in Him and abide in His Love, is the degree in which you’ll be able to love others. If we struggle with the issue of love, it’s because we need to encounter the love of God for us in a greater depth.
Do you know God loves you? Do you really, really know?
Most of us know the wonderful scripture in John 3:16 which say that God loves the world, but my question is; do you know that He loves YOU personally? When God’s love touches someone to the core of their being, it affects every part of his or her life.

Reading about God’s love is a good thing, and is the most beautiful beginning to something that changes us forever. However, it’s imperative to also have a revelation of His love in which we read about. You must encounter His love and experience it in such a way that it changes you forever. More truthfully put, we must encounter HIM and experience HIM in such a way that He changes us forever.
God shows us daily His love, and most often we miss it. There may have been moments in your life that God was revealing His love to you but perhaps you weren’t aware of it.
Looking back on my own life, I have realized how God was constantly showing me His pursuing, relentless love, yet somehow, at that present time, I didn’t see it.
Only when we are conscious of His love will we be able to love others and love Him back with the love He is due. I encourage you to both read AND meditate on God’s love for you, all the while, asking Him to take you deeper into Him so you may know the reality of this truth.
Let me share with you what the scriptures say about the love of God for you:
He takes great delight in you, rejoices over you with gladness and quiets you with His love; He sings over you (Zeph. 3:14-17). Do you know that you ravish His heart? (Song of Solomon 4:9)
His adorations are upon you, so much so that He knows even the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7).
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
He is jealous for you (Joel 2:18), longs to be betrothed to you (Hosea 2:16) where you long for nothing but His love and know and live in His love for you.
Do you know that He is preparing a place for you? (John 14:2-3)
You were not a mistake, for all your days are written in his book. (Psalm 139:15-16).
He determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live. (Acts 17:26).
His thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore. (Psalms 139:17-18)
You are His treasured possession. (Exodus 19:5)
Live in the reality of His love for you, and when you do, the love of God will pour out of you and you will begin feeling His heart beat for others and love them the way the God longs for us to love one another.
Questions: In what ways are you aware that God loves you? Knowing that God’s love brings with it so many benefits, how do you respond to that? Why do we so often miss seeing His love for us?
Psalms 91 read it and see the passionate love that God has for you. He protects you wherever you go. He guards your life from this or from that. He even calls his angels if you make Him your refuge. Praise the Lord!
I think Zephaniah 3 really is one of my favorite verses in the Bible! To think that God delights over me with singing…how amazing is that!
Dear Lori,
Learning from God’s love, and applying it reminds me of a verse on the podium of my home church (translating from the German)”Blessed are they who hear the Word, and meditate on it.” What a blessing that the Spirit helps us to understand the Word, and then leads us to see God’s love expressed in it. May He bless you and me today as we pass that love on to others. Alfred.
Hi Shelley,
What a fitting responce you gave to that devotional on the Love of God. We can strech out our arms to show how wide our love is; yet is that not exactly what HE did for us, –streching out His arms on the cross! HE died in our place so that we may have life. Salvation is by faith, but our works are an expression of our thankfulness to Him. What I’m asked to do is more than I in my own strength am capable of, but my job is not to do it all, rather it is OBEDIENCE. May youi and I, in the end, be fouind to have been obedient. Praising our God, Alfred.
This touched my heart. Thank you so much for sharing it. God’s love is the only real love, and so we learn from this and can apply it… Thank you also for the scripture reference and how it was just so beautifully placed. You blessed me today. Thanks again so much!
