His Love Endures Forever

Written by S Benner

What are you praising God for today? May we pray with you?

“Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1).

Endure is a powerful sounding word. When I looked it up in the dictionary and pondered how the definition correlated to God’s love for us, a phrase leaped out at me: “without flinching.”

God’s love endures our fickleness, persists through our unbelief, remains during our rebellion, continues endlessly, and it does all that without flinching. The steadfast love of the Lord is something that we can rely on completely. It never comes to an end.

Psalm 136 is a litany of praise for God’s might acts and goodness; each of its 26 verses end with the response, “His love endures forever.”

Something happens in my heart when I read that Psalm. Each time “His love endures forever” chants in my brain, it goes a little deeper. It adds layers of strength to my belief that it is true, solidifying my resolve to live in the hope and confidence that God’s love brings.

Claim this truth for yourself. Cling to it during your dark struggle. Nothing can endure longer or stronger than God’s love for you.

O God, we join with the psalmist saying, “Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. We give thanks to Him who alone does great wonders; His love endures forever. We give thanks to the One who remembered us in our low estate; His love endures forever. We give thanks to the One who freed us from our enemies; His love endures forever. We give thanks to the One who gives food to every creature; His love endures forever. We give thanks to the God of heaven; His love endures forever (Psalm 136:3, 4, 23-26). Amen.

Questions: What would you include in your list of God’s mighty acts and goodness? How does praising God change us?

    Dear Goke and Shanice,

Thank you for visiting and sharing. Isn’t it amazing that God has a unique purpose and plan for each of us, and our delight and privilege is to obey as we follow Him! Isn’t it great that He gives us each a heart for different people, so that with my heart bursting for China, yours for Iran and another for Africa, together we reach out to the whole world with the love of Christ! Let us lay every distraction aside and press on to what He calls us to do.

    Blessings,
    Kate

My goal is to travel to Africa this summer with some fellow students and show them why God is so great. He has done plenty of amazing things in my life and in the lives of people i care for.

It is so refreshing to hear people praising God. I find it wonderful, and love my morning devotionals with Him. How can I not love Him…He died for me. Praise God.

Yes, His love does endure forever. Even when we are not aware of God, if we are one of his children, he takes care of us, watches over us, and guides us. Many times in my darkest days, as I look back, I know he was there, protecting me, waiting for me to respond. He is an awesome God.
